Shalimar Beach Resort

My family of four, including two toddlers, had an excellent stay at Shalimar for 5 nights. Quiet resort, newly rebuilt, pristine grounds, heated pool, and steps from the beach. We loved that the patios were screened in fully and safe for the kids. You can see the ocean from all rooms and rooftop for sunsets. Used our full fridge and stove to make meals in the room which was a major plus. Easy to stay for the whole week. Centrally located on the island for driving around and bike trails right across the street. Only con was inability to manually lock the door from inside during the nighttime since door swings out to allow for kitchen design In the King Studio at least. Not sure everyone would need that security but we like it also to keep the kids in if they were to wake before parents.

Freshly rebuilt and reopened after being wiped out by the hurricane in 2022, Shalimar is a beautiful new resort on the sugar-sand and shell-covered beach. It’s new beachfront cottages and hotel building behind it, up on 25-foot concrete pilings, have a clean, modern, fresh feel, inside and out. The beach-facing side of each unit is all sliding glass panels that you can keep open to let in the ocean sounds. High ceilings and white / aquamarine decor make the place feel even airier. Kitchens are fully-equipped. The beachside pool is lovely. A boardwalk over new plantings takes you to the beach. Staff are friendly and seem happy to be back at work after 3 years. The absolute best! Perfectly located for shelling, with private beach access. Comfortable spacious rooms. Screened balconies allow you to leave the balcony doors wide open! Full sized microwave, range, and refrigerator are a nice touch. The pool is heated. Staff is great. When they rebuilt this place they were successful in creating stress free and relaxing accommodations.

We stayed at The Shalimar in a one-bedroom villa with a gulf-front view overlooking the pool area, and it was absolutely lovely. The boardwalk provides easy, scenic access to the beach, and the location is ideal—especially for shelling. Being on the quieter west end makes it feel peaceful and relaxed. Since it’s newly opened, everything feels fresh and thoughtfully designed. The rooms are modern and pretty, decorated in soft beach hues with all the perfect touches. You can really tell care went into every detail—so nicely done. The screened lanai is my favorite detail. The on-site manager was fantastic and very present, which added to the overall experience. While there isn’t daily cleaning service, towel exchanges are easy to do at the office whenever needed. I actually preferred this
