Scottish Fairway Inn

We ended up in a tough situation when our Airbnb did not work out, and the Scottish Fairway Inn in Monterey truly saved us. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was incredible. The staff is wonderfully trained and so customer focused. It felt like they genuinely cared about us. The rooms were spotless, the beds super comfortable with tons of pillows, and the hot water had amazing pressure. Everything felt cozy and cared for. We loved it so much we actually came back again because we were so impressed the first time. A huge thank you to Michael and Sam especially for their kindness and top notch hospitality. Highly recommend this place.

Honestly, this entire stay was SO disappointing. Firstly, we booked a balcony with a suite because of pictures of an ocean view and the ability to "cook" (at least plates & utensils) in our room. When we arrived, our room was downstairs so no view, just a dingy patio with no furniture but ok- fine.||Immediately read a sign posted in the room saying "no cooking" even though there were burners? But the cabinets were bare, no plates, pots nothing. So I called and they said they don't have any plates or utensils to give me but I could cook "if I want..." with what?? I asked for compensation as that's WHY we booked this room to be greeted with "well I don't know how you saw pictures." I got them to give me some plastic knives from their breakroom but that was it.||This aside, I was still hopefu

Our room was so spacious! The only thing missing was an a/c unit but we didn’t need it this time of year. Also, it can get pretty loud with airplane takeoffs from time to time but I only noticed it in the mornings. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, especially for an inn, and the staff was super quick to replace our broken coffee maker and key cards. Definitely recommend!

This place is really rundown. The baseboards were grimy, the floor of the room (aging pergo/LVP) was always dirty. On the third night, I spotted 2 cockroaches when up at 5 am. I purchased roach traps from the CVS next day and the manager reimbursed me, no questions asked AND offered me Raid roach spray, so it's not an uncommon occurrence. Room service (maid) was very responsive for more towels. Meanwhile, the bed was delightful, very comfortable. The location was ideal for us, attending the Monterey Jazz Festival, at the Fairgrounds, not five minutes walk away. Monterey itself just an easy and pleasant 50 minute walk away; Cannery Row 20 minutes more. $8 Uber ride to Fisherman's Wharf.
