Customer Reviews
Nice hotel, a bit dated, everything needs upgraded. Rooms lacked a mirror next to sockets for doing hair/makeup. Nice cosy fire downstairs and seating area (although some seats ripped). Obviously used to be 2 bar areas but no longer used. Nowhere inside rooms or downstairs to get a coffee/drink. Did issue free bottles water at reception. Great location to see lots of attractions, shops & restaurants. Local eating places for breakfast.
When you enter the lobby it is elegant, warm and welcoming. The reception is warm and fast check in. The elevators, hallways and showing wear and the room is comfortable but could use updating. How can they claim to be a four star hotel when there is no restaurant or bar? I remember the Royalton in his heyday and what an amazing restaurant and bar there was! There is no resemblance of what it used to be and that is sad to see. If you care about four star amenities even the basics of a restaurant and bar, do not book here as you will be disappointed.
We arrived at the hotel on New Year’s Day and were surprised at check-in to learn about a mandatory facility fee of $40 per room per day—adding up to a staggering $480 for our three rooms. When I questioned this, I was told it was disclosed in the paperwork (who really reads the fine print?). When I asked what the fee covered, I was told it included access to the gym and Broadband. I explained we didn’t plan to use the gym and could make our arrangements for BB, but was informed the charge was non-negotiable. I was shocked that such a mandatory fee wasn’t included in the advertised price. Not a great start to our stay.|On the positive side, the lobby was cosy and welcoming, the staff were friendly, and the location was excellent for sights like Times Square and Grand Central Station. That’
So, this is not the typical hotel I book. The staff was friendly and helpful. A+. The rooms were a bit dated and I felt like I was on a small cruise boat. The circle shower and mirror tile was interesting. The lobby seating was cool. No bar though…. I would stay here again. The location and staff are what makes this place what it is. If you are looking for a more traditional hotel / room - use your big chain apps to book. This is more boutique style.
Positive: The location was prime and it was very quiet and the staff was excellent, Especially hotel employee and the other woman with the long brown curly hair (I forgot her name). All staff was professional and friendly. Negative: The hotel was dated and I was not expecting to look old. Although the rooms were very clean, it's an older hotel. The elevator was very rickety and the carpet was old. The thermostat in my room did not fully work and wouldn't get warmer than 71 degrees.
