Route 66 Barstow Hotel

UNSANITARY!!! This is the most disgusting place I've EVER been!! Shower curtain had black dirt on the bottom. Not clean inside shower....hair and brown spots on the towels and the walls were dirty all over. And people were yelling outside and reving their engines.. we tried to sleep..1.5 hrs and couldn't take it and went onto drive another 5hrs. He refused to refund the money . disgusting.. seriously..don't risk it

If it weren't for the price of the hotel, I would have rated it a 2 or 3-star, but it is nearly unheard of to get hotel rooms this cheap anywhere in the States, so for that, I am willing to overlook the downsides for the savings (though that doesn't mean I'm not going to mention them).||The biggest issue was that it was 113 degrees outside the day we arrived and when we got to our room around 830pm, we discovered the AC had been turned off all day! I requested a fan from the front desk, as it would be hours before the room cooled down to a level comfortable enough to sleep in. They have NO FANS for guests to use. They also confirmed that it is their standard practice to leave AC off. So...plan your stay to where you can check in to turn on the AC in your room & then head out to dinner

Are most motels too generic to leave much impression on your memory? Feel the nice inns are too cushy? Think the chain hotels are too sterile? Then the Rt. 66 Barstow might be for you.||||It's hard to generalize for all rooms from a single stay, but room #1 [an ADA-spec room, even if I didn't verify the entire path from parking lot to door for compliance] is a bit on the grim side, but I appreciated the working A/C, TV, fridge, microwave, and low-grade WiFi [better than none...]. The drapes didn't match any carpet - there was none - nor the bedspread. But the sheets and towels were clean.||||If Barton Fink had met some Blue Sky, he might've done his writing here - in this Mojave Desert haunt - without much distraction from Charlie....

We used this is as a one night layover on our way to Las Vegas.|It is not 5 star and if you are expecting something posh with restaurants etc then it is far from it. That being said i rated it a 5 star because if you just want something that is not too costly, with a comfortable bed, clean and friendly you will not be disappointed. |I would generally rate this as a 4 star review as it ticked all the boxes from what i needed and the people were friendly enough, but my extra star is for the quirky old cars in the car park which made us feel like we were transported back into 1960s America. I personally loved it and will be back to stay again

If I could give it less than 1 star I would I would give it negative stars. Upon arrival there was ALOT of people coming in and out of different rooms. Then when I went in to tell them I wanted to cancel the front desk clerk said I couldn't cancel without paying for one night's stay. So when I pulled out my wallet to get the money to pay which was 34.99 I pulled out 40.00 and the clerk stated " oh I wore the wrong pants." This place is so sketchy for a couple dollars more you can stay at the Ramada which is way better. Oh let's not forget the rooms had no curtains and the bedspread and white sheets were filthy nasty. It doesn't look like they wash their sheets or beadspreads. Not even to mention the pillows... what pillows there was none. WHATEVER YOU DO PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE.
