Roger Smith Hotel

Stayed here a few times on my trips to NYC before they closed. By far the best hotel experience I’ve ever had in the city. And its old charm was like a time capsule from the 40’s. Beautiful red carpet, brass finishes, old style elevator, amazing rooftop bar great room sizes and comfort, everything about this place was awesome. Was very sad to see they closed shortly after Covid. I hope it’s new owners don’t change its rich historic charm.

The most comfortable beds and soft sheets, so glad we stayed here. Shower had a bathtub and super clean. Hot water is a little tricky but that's the neat part. Our room was in front of the elevator and we had a view of the city. It could be a little noisy for some, but you can turn the A/C on and sleep like a baby day and night. Hotel still provides toothbrushes, toothpaste and a sewing kit! You can tell the hotel has lots of history and it's neat to see the old style furniture. I'm glad it's kept like this!! Our first time in NY and everyone at the hotel was beyond helpful with directions to the city. We loved our stay here!

The hotel has a very good location. However the room are very noisy because of the neverending traffic. We had a Junior suit so we expected it to be a bit better. It was spacious but I was a bit disappointed with the bathroom, nothing what you see on the website, but small and old. The bed was very big and comfy. The room really needs a new carpet and curtain rods. The curtains aren't blackout. The breakfast here is a joke. Definitely not worth 12dollars. Better go to a nearby cafe.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The hotel definitely takes you to an earlier time, with its historical vibe! The staff was friendly and helpful, and we really appreciated the yogurt and granola station. Rooms were clean, comfortable, and great views. Perfect location in NYC! Would definitely stay again!

Great location in the city, near Gran Central Station. Small, artsy, familiy-owned hotel. We had a pleasant stay, staff members were very welcoming. They offer complimentary yogurt :) Rooms were clean, nice toiletries offered. Keep in mind the hotel is old, nothing modern, but very well kept. Our room had microwave and mini fridge, we stacked with snacks for our midnight cravings.
