Rocky Neck Inn & Suites

Hi. Forgive this review, but it's more of a sharing. In late-1971, I was 19 and had just been stationed at the sub base in Groton. I found out about this motel from base housing, and rented a room/efficiency apartment (monthly rate) until Memorial Day, 1972 when I had to move out for the tourist season. In those days, it was called the Rocky Neck Motor Inn. In those days, it cost me $145 per month (which I could just afford based on my Navy pay in those days 🙂) I stayed there again in December, 1973 until sometime in August, 1973. I lived in room 7. In those days, the only entrance and exit was near the tavern. The office was the first "room" one came to on the right. A dear lady, Mrs. Pellitier was the manager both times. We had no reservations in town, thought we'd try the Super 8 up the street, but my husband thought we should at least sop and ask about the rates. Excellent price mid-week; room was clean and comfy, nicely surprised to find not only a fridge and micro and coffee maker but also utensils and dishes and glasses/mugs. Bed was super comfy, area was quiet. Thought we'd hear noise from the Lyme Tavern next door, but not a peep! Def would come back, and will recommend this local motel to friends who travel here.

I stayed here for several months over the winter in 2017. I enjoyed the size of the room, the kitchen. the quiet neighbors, the location, I felt safe and comfortable. The price was right and I was very thankful for this experience.

Place is horrendous. Found needle caps in the bathroom and was disgusting. Not only that they find any reason to ask you to leave and clearly don't want a family together. Don't ever go here. They are judgmental and make up whatever to fit there own agenda.

august 21-23 ....our second visit was perfect! arrived a little early but ...yayo our room was freshly made up! everybody is always so happy and kind. unpacked and hit R.N.Park beach and boy was it crowded!!! ($15.00!) enjoyed the day. Went back to our comfy room. Saw Pam outside and asked her about passes we could get for another beach in town (free) Next 2 days went to McCooks Beach and it awas exactly what we love.......quieter, no rocks or junk and we could sit in our chairs with our feet in the water! The second night at Rocky Neck Inn we ordered take out from the adjacent sports bar. We went to pick it up and what a nice place~from the outdoor bar to the huge dining rooms and many TVs inside.
