Our best expectations were surpassed and then some at Rocking Horse Ranch: We brought our two kids (3 and 5) for a midweek, end of winter stay specifically to get them on skis for the first time, and couldn't be happier that we did. Both kids were zipping down the mountain solo on their second day in large part thanks to the instruction provided by onsite staff, who patiently took each kid solo down the mountain countless times. The ski shop was incredibly efficient and made skiing with little kids frictionless—once the kids decided they wanted to ski, we could get on the mountain in 10 minutes or less (seriously). The staff was amazing across the board, from the on-site owner's warm welcome to the great talent—even Bingo was a blast. Live music was super fun—the singers went out their way
We have stayed at Rocking Horse Ranch many times over the years, more than 15 visits total, but it had been over a decade since our last trip. We were unsure what to expect after so much time, but it quickly became clear that the ranch has kept everything that made it special.||The staff made a great impression right away. The wranglers were knowledgeable, patient, and clearly cared about both the guests and the horses. Speaking of the horses, they were outstanding. They looked healthy, well conditioned, and carefully maintained, not like the typical horses you see in large trail ride operations. Seeing horses still working there from 10 to 20 years ago really says a lot about the level of care they receive.||The grounds and buildings were spotless, and the lodge itself was warm, comfortab
10/10 experience from start to finish. The food was excellent, and the service was somehow even better. There were so many activities to choose from that the weekend flew by. We’ve done trips like Legoland and Great Wolf Lodge, and this experience easily surpassed both. Our children actually cried when it was time to leave after an incredible weekend filled with tubing, the indoor water park, jacuzzi time, horse petting, laser tag, comedy and magic shows, tastings, and endless fun in the game and arcade rooms. We typically avoid crowded places, and this resort truly stands out, the layout is so well designed that you never feel overwhelmed or surrounded by too many people. A fantastic, memorable getaway for our entire family.
Just spent a few days at Rocking Horse Ranch with my daughter and had a blast. The staff is very friendly. There are tons of activities to keep the kids busy like ice skating, skiing, snow tubing, and swimming just to name a few. If thats not enough then you can go on trail rides that are catered to all skill levels. All of the horses are so beautiful and very well trained. Dont miss the daily Horse Parade, its a lot of fun watching the horses follow each other on their way to work (walking to stalls) and home (walking to pasture). If you're looking for a fun family getaway, this is the place. Only 3 hours from Southern New England and only 1 hour and 15 minutes from NYC. We cant wait to go back.
We recently stayed at Rocking Horse Ranch for a weekend family trip and honestly left feeling very disappointed, especially considering the high cost (over $1,800 for one night). We mainly booked this trip so our daughter could try her first ski lesson and enjoy horseback riding. She has been on an equestrian team for a year, so we were really excited. Unfortunately, the ski experience was upsetting. She went up on her own with no guidance, fell, and couldn’t get back up. It was painful watching from below, and my husband had to climb up himself to help her. Other families told us beginners usually get more support, but that was not what we experienced. Snow tubing was fun and not crowded, but we had some safety concerns. My 4-year-old had to stand on the conveyor belt alone, it stopped
