River Landing Inn

My wife and I celebrated our tenth anniversary here a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time walking the trails and bird watching by the river. Your location is well situated to take advantage of the canoeing/kayaking on the Haw and then the 5-star gas station- that was really a nice surprise! I’m not usually able to relax when we travel (hotels are mostly just climate controlled places for me to read!), but in your Inn I felt very comfortable and welcome right away. We had a great night, plus the delicious breakfast was a fine start to our eleventh year of marriage!

Our team was visiting Saxapahaw NC to delight in all the good food and culture the area has to offer. Matt rented us the cabin at River Landing Inn. Its clean and nicely decorated, cozy yet spacious. My favorite aspects were the bluetooth speaker bar where we could enjoy our music while writing and taking notes for our publication. My other favorite part was the grille, where I cooked my first perfect medium-rare steak. There is also a great path down to the river, which was a must to walk off all the extra calories!

We stayed here for a 3 night honeymoon. Matt and Meridith are such amazing people. I had talked to Matt on the phone and emailed a few times, and when we met in person, they felt like family. We use to live in East TN in the Smoky Mountains. Sitting on the front porch of River Landing Inn, with the early morning breeze, sipping coffee, and rocking on the old time Glider, took me right back there! All the birds and buzzing critters, the wisteria and sweet peas in bloom, brought such a calm to my world. Breakfast was fabulous! Fresh ingredients from the locals! So close to Saxapahaw and Chapel Hill, yet you feel transported to a place far away as you drive down the long driveway! I can't say enough about this place or the people who own it and run it! Try it, you'll never want to stay

When you drive down the gravel driveway, about 1/4 mile off the main road, you might think you are lost. You drive passed a lots of woods to a clearing with a pasture on each side and a restored/redesigned/rebuilt horse stable. That is the inn. Matt and Meridith were cordial hosts. The room (#1) was adequate but I would have preferred a carpeted floor as opposed to painted concrete (cold on bare feet). The room was sparse, one bed, one small desk and one chair. There was not television. There is a common area for guests that was nicely decorated with a large, shareable television. The queen bed in our room could use an upgrade but we did sleep well enough. The bathroom in room #1 is huge to accommodate handicap accessibility. Breakfast was wonderful as Meridith catered to my low-

So, I really like the place, the proximity, and the overall experiences that I had staying at the River Landing Inn. It is where my now wife and I met, but the organization or lack thereof of the booking is what elicits this review. There is a real shortage of places to stay near the Haw River Ballroom and this was always a great fit for us. Having stayed a few times we always looked forward to getting back. ||||The issue is that booking is not streamlined at all. I have twice booked with them just to have my reservation changed after the fact or denied completely. In fact, I had just booked the cabin in September for a November stay, and was confirmed with an invoice, just to have it denied two weeks later. Two weeks! And no real explanation of why. Just, "Hey, here is your cancele
