43 minutes away from New Bern. Not much to do at the location. Room was adequate, filthy rug that should have been replaced. Not enough towels for a 3 night stay. Main dining area was fine but had only 1 last glass of the wine my friend and I like. Ran out because it was popular (dah)! Coffee shop food was ok, toast cool to the touch with frozen butter on the side. Unappealing. Beautiful surroundings but operated in a less than expected manner. Would never return. Probably better for boaters that can use the Marina.
My husband and I live in New Bern NC, we enjoy going to the silo’s and visiting Oriental NC. We happen to drive through the River Dunes. It reminded us of a movie set. It’s a beautiful place but there’s no people or children. ( not that we could see) We enjoy riding through whenever we have company. Just to show them how eerie it is. Reminds of of the stedfered wives. I would never want to live there.
I cannot believe the bad reviews. This place is a great getaway for down time. I love the cottage we are staying in.
Spent 30 mins driving thru. Lovely place.
