Customer Reviews
Location is good but everything else is completely subpar. We stayed at the RI Gaslamp the night before and just go there it’s amazing. Walked in to a terrible sewage odor in the lobby. Little to no hot water most of our stay. Elevator very unclean floor and graffiti. No waters given as they should be to Marriott members. No dish detergent to wash with. Breakfast very limited options compared to other RI. Only coffee creamer they had was hazelnut. Only milk to put in coffee if you can’t have hazelnut. Coffee was cold anyway. Bed pillows way too old and stuffing deflated and balled up. I’m not picky about hotels but this was among the worst I’ve stayed at.
This hotel is close enough to walk to the cruise port, the USS Midway, and even Seaport Village, so it’s in a great spot for those things. It’s also conveniently close to the airport and rental car facility. ||The hotel itself is a tad dated; it could use some updates in the bathrooms and other spots. The breakfast area is tiny. It just isn’t big enough for the number of people staying and eating there. Several people had to get breakfast and take it back to their rooms because there was nowhere to sit in the dining area. We just happened to walk up as someone was vacating a table. The staff were working hard to keep up with the demand for food. I think we counted four trips by the staff to fill up the biscuits in a span of 30 minutes. We also watch the staff change three trashc
Positive: Plenty of space, and private rooms for everyone. Breakfast was nice, although it only went to 9am. Negative: Lights in both bathrooms flickered when turned on. The water to the toilet in one of the bathrooms was literally turned off when we arrived. Very strange. Both alarms went off at 6am even though we didn't set them. Cleaning staff should turn them off.
Mixed experience but good value. Good: Excellent friendly service, clean and spacious rooms (very baby/kid friendly), solid free breakfast, convenient location Bad: Owners need to invest in maintenance. Hot water was out both days (fixed after a few hours on Saturday but still broken on Sunday). Elevators frequently out too. Service made up for it, and proactive points compensation lifted this from a 3 to 4 star review.
Excellent location and rooms are really nice. Since I got an upgrade to the bay facing room the sunset was worth watching. The location is so close to Liytle Italy, Santa Fe station and also the USS Midway Museum. Also the kitchenette comes with all the stuff required for cooking and is very helpful especially with kids.
