CONS: This hotel is weathered. The whole property needs upgrades. There was a broken lamp in the room. It looked like the mirror in the bathroom had been painted. The door to the bathroom is so large that it opens and almost touches the toilet. So if you forgot to close the door before you drop trow 🤷🏾♀️. The is loud banging all night long, not the hotel's fault, just bring earplugs. The kitchen is stocked with all essentials, but you need to call down to have the hot plate delivered to your room. Also, extremely small insects (I think the tiniest ant) near the kitchen sink area. PROS: Location location location! You are less than a NY city block away from the subway (about 200 feet). The front desk were extremely friendly and helpful. Please treat them with respect! The rooms are very s
The hotel is located in a beautiful area, just one block from Bryant Park, which makes it ideal for getting around Manhattan. The lobby is small but has comfortable seating and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was outstanding, always attentive and happy to help with any questions. The room was spacious and, in our case, included a very comfortable sofa bed that didn’t even need to be opened for an adult. The view of the Empire State Building is amazing and enjoyable at any time of the day. Breakfast is very complete, and the view toward the park and the street adds a really nice touch. The only small downside was that the exterior window was a bit dirty. Other than that, everything was perfect. A solid 10/10 stay.
The hotel has larger rooms than typical for midtown hotels, but the biggest surprise was the craic for the hotel bar. I have been traveling to NYC for many years and after hitting a few of my usual haunts with too many people centered on their phones, I ended up having some great talks with travelers in the hotel bar. Erham the bartender was awesome and kept us going with new friends from San Francisco and more local travelers!
The only reason this hotel gets a 3-star rating is for its awesome location just across from Bryant Park and around the corner from Times Square. Also, for the lovely staff working there, who sadly have to deal with an old, rundown hotel where nothing works as it should, and you regularly have to wait up to 15 minutes for a rickety old elevator (only three of the four are working in a hotel of 30+ floors). The rooms themselves are a good size, but they are just old and sad, and in desperate need of updating. The bathrooms have seen better days; you had to stay deathly still on the toilet to avoid the seat from sliding off, and when you reached over to grab some toilet roll, it was anyone's guess as to whether the solid metal toilet roll holder was going to fall and clatter to the ground.
I visited the hotel with my dogs and were genuinely impressed from the moment we arrived. The staff went above and beyond, treating us like true VIPs — not only welcoming us warmly but also making our dogs feel just as special. That kind of hospitality is rare and deeply appreciated. The Christmas decorations were absolutely magical. Every corner felt festive, elegant, and thoughtfully designed, creating a cozy yet luxurious holiday atmosphere that instantly put us in the spirit of the season. It was the perfect blend of classic charm and modern sophistication. We also loved spending time at the bar — the drinks were excellent, beautifully crafted, and served with great attention to detail. It was the ideal place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the ambiance after exploring the city. The loc
