Residence Inn by Marriott Columbia

We are on a Cross-Country trip and this place has stood out above all the rest. Recently renovated with great attention to detail, the hotel is also Immaculate. Alicia, the friendly & exceptional front desk representative, went above & beyond to make sure we felt welcome and all our needs were met. What a pleasure to actually feel like you can truly RELAX after a day on the road. Grateful.

This isn't the greatest joint in Columbia I have a feeling. Checkin was fine, the desk attendant was pleasant and eager to help with any requests. That's where it ended however. My tv remote didn't work and I brought it down for new batteries. They did not have any. When they did they dropped the remote off at the wrong room. Luckily one of my fellow business travelers was in the room and let me come get it. The fun then began later as the elevator would not open. Unluckily I was on the top floor and had to take the stairs each day, including the last morning when I checked out with all of my luggage. What's funny is I requested a room that didn't face the highway, if I had kept my original room I don't think I would've had the elevator problem as it only pertained to the folks on the top

The staff at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Coffee was good, but they still have only a snack breakfast, while other chains are doing much better breakfasts. Also on a negative note, we were there with kids, and they were able to tolerate the ice cold pool; but the swimming pool was far too cold for adults. That was very disappointing after a long day at a sporting event.

The location is going through some renovations at this moment, so I expect some stuff room stuff may change going forward. Overall the service is great. Breakfast is hot and ready. There's good coffee around the clock. Amel was very helpful with keeping the room stocked and clean which can sometimes be difficult at many places with long stays. The only current drawback is the construction which appears to be finishing up soon.

We stayed eight days in this clean, well-furnished suite with modern, full-sized refrigerator, stove, dishwasher. The staff was friendly, responsive, and eager to help. This is a good place to stay.
