Residence Inn by Marriott Atlanta Buckhead

Marriott should be ashamed to have their name on this hotel. Motel is a better description. We had stayed here about six years ago and vowed then to never come back (it was rundown). Unfortunately, when I was making the reservation for this stay I saw that the website said 'Newly Remodeled' - but I was looking at the wrong hotel. I did not know there are two RI in Buckhead. I reserved the wrong one and there has not been any remodeling in this one a long, long time. The exterior is dilapidated and the wood railings are completely rotted. The room was not better. Basically on vacation with my family and my brothers surprised me with a NFL game live. After the game we came here for the night because one of them had an early flight. I was very much impressed with the room since I had been hotel hopping around Augusta and Savanna. The kitchen was nice and the two bathrooms (one upstairs) were extremely nice and clean. The bed was super comfortable and I was just overall impressed. The breakfast was the standard staple. So I wasn’t expecting something to knock my socks off. The location was just as nice but yet busy. Since I don’t know the area all too well my brother was saying this was a sort of high end area. Photos on their website have been photoshopped! Rooms are spacious but definitely not as nice as pictured. For one night, it was fine but even our 8 year old commented on the gritty film on the bottom of the tub and the pull out mattress was significantly stained, without a mattress cover so we just used the couch as is which is twin sized bed. $250 hold will be put on your card in advance in case of damages and you’ll need to sign a no-party waiver. There was an additional charge of $13.50 for “daily parking” but this is just another up-charge, as the hotel itself is just in a normal area/not resort level, few blocks down from a Waffle House. We did a 2 story penthouse room. The room was fine, however it could have been cleaned way better prior to our arrival. It's in need of a update or new carpet/floors. I felt like asking for more towels from the front desk was fine and good the first time, however the second and third time not so much. Also they don't clean rooms daily which sucks when you need garbage's emptied and extra hand soap, and toilet paper. I would not say don't stay here. I just think for cost it should have much better service over all. Again the staff wasn't mean or awful, they just seemed less than thrilled with pretty much everything we needed. It's close to many things but the area is very busy hard to get on and out of location unless going toward Downtown. Lots of traffic at this location as well. But lots of accomodations so you really don't have to use a car unless you are going away for a night out. This is a very homey and cozy complex I don't feel like a million people can come on and out in one night even though they might you just don't get that vibe. Very nice breakfast spreads daily. Lots of rooms are getting better with this I'm glad.... but I admit this one is one of the best breakfast spreads I've seen as a daily accomodations, it's seminar banquet level.
