Red Roof Inn Wilkes-Barre Arena

Great location. Fine internet. Easy parking. A couple surprises. The room was tight. The king sized bed took up most of the floor space. Our mattress felt older. The springs creaked and the mattress sagged. Called the front desk several times before arriving. Often the calls went unanswered. No coffee maker in the rooms, no breakfast, which I only mention as an FYI when making your decision. In no way was the situation misrepresented. Lots of friendly well behaved dogs. Responsible owners. Pleasant, clean walking areas. Did see the police on site 2 times during visit. Nothing happened that impacted our stay, but it did raise concerns for what might be going on.

Positive: The staff left us alone. Negative: I wish we were on the bottom floor or at least they had some luggage carriers to help get our stuff to the second.

Needed something convenient and cheap in a bind for someone I know that has been displaced with a dog. They are kind and my friend is a neat freak so she ended up using a bottle of Clorox spray and wiped everything down even though the rooms were clean. She is still staying there right now but we are looking for a longer term. Maybe I’ll ask what they charge if you pay weekly…. It’s not as bad as it used to be. Any hotel or motel these days can be used for nefarious purposes, but I do like that you have to check in and have your identification taken on account and that you just don’t sign into an app and use your phone as a key and never have to give your ID to the clerk. I stay at the Hilton Usually, it is the only place I go, so I have all my stuff on file through Hilton platinum rewards

It was quick and good customer service but the room was not up to standard. It wasn’t clean and the shower kept flooding everytime we used it. There was also a pepper in our sink?? I’m not sure if they really look through their rooms before booking it out to other guests. It was cheap so I guess we got what we paid for.

This was not a great experience. The check in person was kind but the room was gross. The sheets had stains and the whole room just reeked of smoke in a non-smoking room (not cigarettes). Getting a receipt for the stay has been painful to say the least (tried email and calling and still don't have it). Even for a temporary stay from flight to next destination; I couldn't get out of here fast enough and will never go back.
