Red Roof Inn Detroit - St Clair Shores

I have stayed here repeatedly when visiting Detroit area. At least 3-5 times a year. Had issues in the past but have seen a Vast Improvement on last 2 visits. The rooms were comfortable and Clean. The entire Facility has had a remake, same Management Team. The Lobby is Clean and Bright. Pet Friendly with no additional costs. this is important to me because I travel with my baby and ESP. The Management Team has not changed but the Service and Facilities have Improved. I will continue using this facility. Thank You Management for the Vast Improvements please keep them coming. only thing I would request is please leave more towels.

I'm torn between 2 and 3. I wouldn't call it average though, it is below average.| |Pros: proximity to our friends' house, |very inexpensive, |gracious and helpful staff, |clean sheets and towels,|room was quiet,|didn't see any bugs,|plenty of hot water, good AC,|it felt safe, if sketchy.||Cons: although it's said to be no smoking, when we entered our room it had a stale tobacco smell. The AC was off, so it was also stuffy and humid. Once we got the room cooled, the smell abated slightly.|Didn't feel clean. I found a large wad of fuzz (hair?) on top of the in-room safe. The drain the bathtub had also not been cleaned out. That said, the counter tops appeared fine.|The toilet didn't flush properly. We had one awful clog, and I felt badly for the maintenance person who had to deal with it. H

We had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. We drove 5 hours to reach our destination and had a confirmed reservation with advance payment. We were fully dependent on this booking and expected at least basic reliability. When we arrived at around 3 AM, we were told the hotel was overbooked and no room was available for us. There was no prior notice, no call, no email — nothing. Being left without a room at that hour after a long drive was extremely stressful and unprofessional. A confirmed and prepaid booking should mean something. Guests should not be left stranded in the middle of the night to find another hotel on their own. I would not recommend this place to anyone who needs dependable accommodation.

Positive: Absolutely nothing. It was the worst hotel experience of my life Negative: The room was disgusting! The bed was made nicely, but other than that, you can tell the room wasn't cleaned. There was even hair and what appeared to be blood on the shower wall. I decided to sleep in my car in the parking lot instead of this room.

Original room was filthy and never cleaned, I used to be a housekeeper so I know the shortcuts lazy housekeepers take. The toilet was covered in urine with the toilet seat up, clearly just used. Sheets were filled with crumbs and hairs. Smears of god knows what on the counters and walls. I was given a new room. It rained heavily during my stay and there were no “careful wet” signs placed anywhere around the property, I slipped and fell coming off the bottom of the steps. My room key stopped working three times in two days. The second time it was reactivated the clerk behind the desk tried to imply that since it was almost check out time that’s why. Checkout is at 11 and my belongings are still inside, you can’t rush someone out of what they paid for. No smoking signs plastered around the b
