Red Roof Inn Arcata

Front desk lady was nice. We needed a place to stay for a few hours to catch some sleep and had a special deal. We didn’t check reviews and I should have before booking. They have 100 deposit and won’t be given until 2-3days. If you pay cash you have to stay until 9:30 the next day to get it back or else come back another day. For someone just passing by that would have been very inconvenient. ALL the towels in our room had so many stains it was disgusting. Seemed like they were cleaning rags before. I had to air dry because that’s how bad they were. Floors were dirty too. Bathroom vent was very dusty. Cleanliness is the most horrible place I’ve stayed in and trust me I paid much less for better service.

Extremely cheap, but you definitely get what you paid for. The TV was inaudible on the highest volume, there was a cigarette burn on our sheets, and our room was not cleaned during the 3 days we spent there (not the biggest deal but some fresh towels would have been nice) However, the bed was comfy and dogs were allowed at no extra cost. The staff was also polite and straightforward. I think with more staff and a few renovations it could be a lot better, but for now I'd go somewhere else unless you're on a tight budget.

I must say I was a bit anxious when booking my stay here due to all of the negative reviews. However, we still went ahead and booked a room and stayed there. I must say that my experience definitely exceeded my expectations! The front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, both on the phone and in-person, upon checking in and out. Our room looked like it was renovated not too long ago (laminate floors, desk and nightstand lamps with outlets and USB ports). The bathroom was clean and looked nice. There was a stain looking like nail polish on one of the towels, but the towel did smell washed, and it would require the housekeeping to closely inspect each single towel to notice it. This is not a Red Roof Inn as of today. We did stay there when it was, and he hotel was easily the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty, old furniture, the carpet smelled, the sheets were dirty when we arrived, asked the maid to change them and was met with attitude. And the dead lock did not work.

Booking and check-in was very simple, though I was unaware of the $100 deposit when I booked online. I didn't find out until I got there. The people working the front desk were very friendly. The hotel was a little messy, but considering that there are animals there all the time it was clean. Other than that everything was great. They were still working in some areas, like the bar/resturant. The pool and hot tub were very clean and the kids had a lot of fun there. The room was decent, and the housekeeper was very friendly and accommodating. Whatever we needed, extra towels, another pillow, she was right there, and they were even short staffed for the weekend. Over all, it was a great place to stay.
