Grateful Dreams Lodging

This is the greatest bed in breakfast in all of California, people are saying maybe the rest of America, too. Called them late at night, they answered, gave us the code to go in before they even got there, and then made me gluten-free pancakes in the morning. It was amazing, as you might expect from people who have a Grateful Dead themed bed and breakfast.

Made a booking and now I cannot get in contact with them. They don't have a functional website or phone number and haven't been on their Instagram in months. Effectively, then, they took my $ and disappeared. I have tried all routes to contact them and none work anymore!

Don't let the term 'hostel' fool you. Grateful Dreams is so much better than the boring homogenous hotel chain options that I would not even consider the others unless I had to. Impeccably clean with private locking rooms, security coded exterior doors, and less than 1/2 mile walking distance to the town square as well as countless other local shops and restaurants. The atmosphere that Dave and Becky have created provides an interesting flare for a bed and breakfast style experience that is purpose built for guests. They made me feel like I was staying at a good friend's house without that feeling of imposing that such visits can entail. The next time I am in the Arcata area, Grateful Dreams is the FIRST place I will attempt to book!

Becky and David have created a one-of-a-kind lodging experience. I cannot begin to tell you how wonderfully delightful, inventive, crazy, unique, and special their place is. It doesn't matter if you don't like the Grateful Dead (and I never did); they have constructed an homage beyond anyone's wildest imagination. The art, both inside and on the outside of the house is bonkers and beautiful. Nick nacks and kitsch populate this shrine in every inch of the place. Your senses will be assaulted in a cosmic way. You could probably spend every day of a month trying to see everything and anything you could imagine. What seals the deal is that the entire place is so clean. The hosts were very nice and accommodating. I called them later in the evening looking for a place to stay. They got back to me very quickly. The house was very unique and has a very wide variety of are through out the house. Very fun vibe and great atmosphere. The following morning I was offered breakfast and coffee and the hosts took me out to the beach for a few hours showing me some of the local spots. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a fun and unique place to stay.
