Just got back from our 2 night stay here. My 1st time here and it was great. We decided to go last minute... on 4th of July weekend... and got lucky there was a cancelation. Our camp host; preach, was amazing. So kind, funny, super helpful and just an overall great guy/host. He definetly made our stay more enjoyable. The facilities were clean and well maintained. Hope to go again!
Beautiful campground with a stream running through it. Site #1 is my favorite, it is close to the water. Only draw back is sites are fairly close together. Sites 1-9 reservation only at recreation.gov, 10-17 first come basis. 10-14 are tent only, 15 & 16 tent or RV and 17 tent or RV double site/double fee. Clean toilets and friendly, helpful hosts. I hope they return next year!! This campground stays full on weekends and most week days. Close to Rocky Mountain NP and Estes for great hiking and site seeing.
Ronnie the campsite host was do knowledgeable and kind. The campground was peaceful and immaculate. Spotless restrooms. We stayed on campsite #1 right by the river, it was like sleeping with a sound machine. Tip: don't forget the bug spray.
This place is pretty nice. The fee is only $21. There is a creek running along several ot the sites. No showers are available. Vault toilets are generally clean. It was full most of the week. Walk in sites are available. Sites 10 through 14 are in a shared parking spot. They are meant for tent only camping. 14 is the only one that is not lumped pretty close. They allow hanging of hammocks. Which is nice for napping or reading a book during the afternoon. You can hear the creek while camping because it is right behind the sites. All of the sites for tents have a bear safe box. While we were there the pump for water was producing a very odd color well water. Similar to sun tea in color actually. The camp host has wood for $6. The host was very nice when we did encounter him. My son had cut
Pros: well-maintained toilets, flat tent pads free of rocks and other debris, bear lockers, stream, hiking trails, quiet Cons: lots of thru traffic to the off-roaring trails nearby and subsequent engine noise when caravans of jeeps reach the trails My boyfriend and I had a lovely time camping at this pet-friendly campground! Not too crowded in October, and many of the sites are adjacent to a babbling brook, which was very peaceful when lounging in our hammock and, later, helped lull us to sleep. There are several shady trails nearby, and we took a peaceful stroll among the tall trees. We even spotted a rather majestic moose sauntering through the grounds, which we admired at a safe distance. Would 100% recommend!
