Oscar Scherer State Park Campground

A quiet oasis in the middle of urban sprawl. Birds, hawks, nesting eagles, scrub jays, gopher turtles, aligators and snakes all finding refuge here. Adjacent to the bike trail, many well marked hiking trails, a fishing/ swimming pond and a visitor center. Kayak and canoe rentals on site. Camp sites are spacious and relatively private with electic and water ( you may need a 50' hose) with well maintained bathhouses. Washers and dryers on site $3 per load quarters only.

We visited Oscar Scherer State Park over Valentine's Day weekend, stayed 3 nights. We have a 31ft travel trailer. The sites are nice. Not the biggest but we had room for our 3 dogs. There is enough space and vegetation in between sites so you are not on top of your neighbor's. The sites have a packed sand which we liked and no red ants. The campground was full that weekend and there were a lot of dogs. Our dogs are large and love humans. Do they love other strange dogs? It's a hit or miss. Do you like every person you meet? So when the site behind us didn't have their 2 small dogs on a leash, it was a little stressful. One of their dogs came barking and running under our camper where our dogs were minding their own business and each on a leash. Due to our quick thinking, drama was avoided.

Very clean, very quiet, big spaces and overall just a really cool place to camp!!! We loved being close to the Legacy Trail to ride bikes. Also it’s crazy how it seems like you are in the jungle but you are literally right in town!!! Great State Park.

My wife and I camped over Labor Day weekend and it was quiet, relaxing, just good experience all around.

This place is beautiful but their park needs to step up a bit. I’ve never had a hot shower here there’s something would be nice. Not even like warm. For “outstanding water” there are no hoses to rinse watercraft when done in South Creek. I find their signs on trails to be somewhat lacking. We won’t stop visiting but would like to see some improvements. There’s word of panther sightings 😎
