Ophir Campgrounds

Late June trip to look at the old mining town led us to stay at this campground. It was a midweek night so we had our pick of the 18 campsites available. There are picnic tables and fire pits in each site.Vault toilets (one building with a male and female side) located at the east end of the camp. The wildlife we encountered included deer, squirrels, and lizards. This is in an open range for cattle grazing and it can feel like a wooded pasture. The ground is a bit rocky in most places and sloping, so don't expect a flat soft grassy area to pitch a tent. The creek provided some nice atmosphere and cool refreshment.

Unsure if you can stay during the winter, but it's a fun road to drive up when it's all snowy! Only saw one other car. It was nice getting this far into the Oquirrh's during the winter, but not sure how the road conditions are shortly after snowstorms, so check the weather if you chose to visit!

Went up Ophir canyon for the first time in May, I was not disappointed. Nice secluded little place. It wasn’t to busy at all. That little creek there was a hit for the kids, just gotta keep an eye on them.

We love Ophir canyon. We haven't ever actually camped here, but we go up regularly for day trips. The water is cool on the feet, the trees are beautiful and the area is fantastic. I highly recommend it.

A hidden gem in the mountains south east of Tooele. I definitely recommend going here with your family and enjoying going back to a simpler time in life.
