Ocean Inn & Suites

We visited the Ocean Inn and Suites on St Simons for our anniversary. It was a pleasant stay and the staff was very friendly courteous. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was that the hotel was undergoing renovation/upgrades and it was a little dusty as to be expected. We will certainly stay there again, it should be beautiful.

Positive: The people working there are amazing. Negative: It had an extremely serious mold issue in both rooms that I attempted to stay in. Had it not been later in the evening, I would’ve gone somewhere else

We stayed out of season, and it's clearly more used to very hot weather, as we strugglde to get the room warm enough with the little air conditioner on the wall. It's undergoing renovation at the moment and has been for some time so the lobby is sheets of plastic and dust and a little bit of noise but otherwise okay. We had the room at the back on the first floor which overlooked the car park in the dumpsters for the renovation but we knew we weren't going to get a lighthouse view and we did get a cheaper price accordingly which was fine with us. It was just right for our stop on the way North up the East Coast. And since Simons Island is an interesting place just to wander around, although pretty small.

Had to wait at check in until the clerk came back from a smoke break. Room was dirty, bed was poorly made with the bedskirt half on the floor. Old food in the fridge and room, shower head was moldy and filthy had to clean before even thinking of taking a shower. Hotel under renovation which we were not told when making a reservation. We would have left but it was evening and too late to locate another hotel. Stayed one night. Spoke to clerk upon checking out about concerns they said they could not do anything and the manager would call us the next day. No call. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Chose it based on the online “ reviews” which were obviously not very current. Stay somewhere else.

Looking forward to seeing the remodel finished. Great location. Great potential. Color change was a great decision. Rooms have plenty of space to redesign to today's expectations. Furniture change as each floor is remodel would help. Better kitchenettes would as well. Maybe an electric heater for pool as well. Thank you for a good price during construction. My wife and I will definitely be back.
