We didn’t stay at the resort itself, but we stayed in Truckee and came to Northstar every weekend during the ski season (February and March). The slopes themselves are good and well maintained, and skiing here can be really enjoyable. However, the overall experience on weekends was extremely frustrating due to the crowds and parking situation. Everything becomes very overcrowded. Finding a place to sit anywhere in the village or lodges is almost impossible during peak hours. Parking is honestly the biggest issue. On weekends you need to reserve parking about a week in advance if you want to park there, and it’s paid until midday. Weekday parking is free, but it’s almost always full as well. Several times when we tried to enter the parking lot, employees were blocking the entrance sayin

Good mix of beginner and advanced terrain. Well organized and well groomed. On the weekend of March 8 there were minimum wait times on the lifts and all lifts were open. Despite warm weather very good skiing.

Really great ski school; organized and easy check-in process kind and enthusiastix ski instructors who really took care of my kids. I was so stunned at how much progress they made after one full day lesson. Shout out to Dagny my 6yo was wondering why he "couldn't see her again or meet her on the shuttle the next day". Village was perfect for apres ski hanging out. Blues sometimes overgroomed with thin snow cover and were difficult to maneuver without chatter. No natural snow at time of my visit in Jan 2026. The little narrow side trails would have been so fun with more generous snow making but they were melted ajd refrozen and hard. No other complaints. So close and convenient to RNO airport and great local shuttle systems with door to door drops to many airbnbs within the resort? Great

Here for a Saturday of skiing. Morning was awesome. Mid-day crowds showed up. Runs are separated by skill level so it was fairly easy to stay away from the beginning skiers. Parking was okay. I couldn't get a reservation but the bus works fine. Too expensive food, but that's standard for ski resorts. A few runs have blind dips, with the crowds they can be dangerous when people stop in the blind zone.

I had an outstanding experience at the ticket booth thanks to Cheryl Weinreich. From the moment I walked up, she was welcoming, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure I had the best possible day on the mountain. She took the time to walk me through my options, explained things clearly, and handled everything with a level of professionalism you don’t see very often anymore. What really stood out was how effortlessly she made the whole process feel. There was zero stress, no rushing, and I walked away feeling taken care of and excited to ski. It’s clear Cheryl knows her stuff and truly cares about guests having a great experience. Northstar is lucky to have her at the front line. If you’re heading to the mountain, you’re in great hands if Cheryl is the one helping you. Retain and
