I was scared to stay here after all the reviews mentioning homeless people but I didn’t notice any of that during my stay. There is a whole homeless tent “neighborhood” right off the bike path, less than 1/2 mile away, but I didn’t see them coming into the campground and my site was right infront of the gate to the bike path. I also felt the campground was very quiet. The location is hard to beat with the beach/lake right across the path. I thought the bathrooms were clean as well. Maybe I just got lucky because it’s mid-October and the cooler weather is hindering the homeless? I would agree the price is too high for what you get. The sites are on top of each other and the WiFi didn’t work. I didn’t even know there were showers until I read a review about them.
We’ve been coming to North Beach Campground for five years now. I read some bad reviews this year but I think the staff has taken the issues seriously and we had no problems. Restrooms were clean and the area felt very safe with a security guy waking around at night. There are speed bumps installed now to discourage the speeders who head down to the beach.
Acceptable campground, a little expensive $50 for a tent with no water or electric seems a lot for a patch of dirt. The back bathroom is bad!! dirty and over run with spiders and spiderwebs. The main bath is OK - old and dated close to the Burlington biking/walking Greenway and to North Beach Park which was nice. Sites kind of close - not lots of privacy but some have nice shade/trees. Staff were helpful and friendly. Likely would not stay again.
This campground has always had a fairly negative reputation. Despite this we took a chance and scheduled a weekend trip. We were pleasantly surprised. The site was large and very comfortable. Check in was a breeze and the staff were very pleasant. Our site was flat and very accommodating for our Class A motorhome. All in all it was a very nice weekend and we will definitely be back again
If anyone tells you that the homeless stay out of this campground they are lying to your face. If you take a walk down the bike path there is an entire homeless encampment that reeks and the residents come in to the campground to shower. The showers and bathrooms are in disrepair, the sites are soo tight and the moldy firewood is overpriced. The staff were so great, however, and the location at the beach is near perfect. This campground could be so much better.
