I complained to owner and staff of a party in room 104, I was in room 107. The music from a stereo which had been brought by the occupants was so loud, there was no resting possible on Sunday December 14 2025. I.C.E. Agents could have made their quota from that one room. The yelling and smell of drugs was overwhelming. Staff and owner did nothing! My room was not clean upon check-in. The wall electrical outlets by the beds were so loose they would not support a phone charger. The shower has a 1 inch pipe sticking through a 2 1/2 inch hole with no covering and this was an upgraded room. The musky smell was not pleasant. The owner lives on site behind the front desk and a hasp lock on the front door will be answered after ringing a doorbell by the owner in his socks , apparently this is acce

Great value for what you pay! From what I've inferred back in the day this was the place to stay. Well times change and we've all seen the world change probably way too much. However, the price here is from way back and doesn't break the bank! The rooms aren't luxiourious or amazing but they are economical and give you what you need! In no way we're the rooms nasty or filthy. The AC was nice and cold, the view of the mountains was amazing, and the smell of pizza from the local pizza place across the way was great! The owner and his superintendent are extremely nice and are beyond accommodating! From what I inferred they are in the process of renovating the place and bringing it back to life. The area was hit hard by Hurricane Helene but they have recovered so much you wouldn't even notic

At 6:00 am I heard squeaking and panicked. I woke up my husband, and when we checked, there was a mouse behind the refrigerator. We went down to the lobby in the afternoon when we got back from work. We told them, and they acted like they didn't know, feigning surprise. When my husband said he just wanted another trap, they immediately gave him the same one that was already there and told us to keep the door closed. From what we could see, the motel is under renovation. The remaining rooms are extremely disgusting. Luckily, I always travel with my cleaning supplies. I think the only thing in their favor is that the sheets and towels were clean, and some of their staff are quite nice.

The most unpleasant experience... the rooms were dirty, the walls were covered in grime, mice were running around inside the rooms, and animals were everywhere. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Not sure if same people own who owned it 9 years ago, but we had to go buy our own sheets before we would sleep there. It's a shame too when I was a kid we went to Mt. City every year to visit family and we stayed at the Mountain Empire every year and it was a very nice, clean motel, we went the first year they built the second building and pool, the rooms were beautiful back then. We now get airbnbs when we come down, I do hope to see mountain empire restored to its former glory one day.
