Motel 6 Wytheville, VA

We needed a quick, pet friendly, overnight stop. We should have found another place. I'm pretty sure the neighbor upstairs was selling drugs well into the night. Our room didn't get above 65 degrees, had to ask for a blanket and a trash can, which were quickly provided, to their credit. The curtains didn't block out all the light and the room wasn't even close to sound proof. A sign on the lobby door said that the town deemed the building unsafe and needed to be vacated by the end of the month. They were in the process of replacing furniture, so I'm guessing it has new owners trying to male improvements. Pay more and stay closer to the highway until the reviews improve.

1st of all, great location within walking distance of restaurants and convenience stores right off the highway. 2nd, Inder was the absolute most welcoming and understanding staff member i’ve ever come across. My vehicle broke down and while I worked on it he often came out and checked on me and asked if he could get me some water or even coffee. The rooms were clean and spacious, plenty of clean towels, and a vending machine with plenty of goodies. 10/10 would stay again!

The new owners only owned 1 month so far. The staff was nice, helpful. We stayed here until the Airbnb was ready. Felt safe cuz the FBI and Police were in parking lot all nite and day dealing with a guest. Either old guest trying to get rid of but. Not my issue. Got woke up by them smashing into a hotel room lock box to get stuff out w sledgehammer. Just lots of sketchy peeps in other side of hotel. Saw lots of cops, fire dept, and ambulance. The room was close to office and had smell of cigarettes in room heavy. They offered to change rooms for us. But we needed level 1 room and was short stay. The room was basic. And great for one nite. The only room issue was the padded fluffy toilet seat cushion and the outlets didn’t work properly. Oh no smoke detector either.

Positive: Location Negative: ROACHES!! Crawled all over us all night!! Stood outside for 10 minutes ringing the bell to check in and finally had to call to get someone to answer the door to check in. Room was cold all night and no blankets.

Where do I begin... We pull up and the front lobby is locked. The other car said they had already been waiting 45 minutes. I called customer service and they basically said "oh well, you will have to keep calling until they come to the front desk". Finally, after 30 phone calls to the front desk, the gentleman let us in. He said he couldn't find my reservation, even though I showed him the email confirmation, so I got charged more than I anticipated. Finally we get to our room and head straight to the bathroom where I see a live cockroach in the corner. The room was absolutely filthy. After sitting down for 5 minutes and debating if we were going to leave, my husband picked up his backpack and threw it down immediately because it had 2 cockroaches climbing up the side.
