Motel 6 San Diego, CA - Downtown

I am staying here for several days as a cost effective alternative passing through California on my way to Europe. The location is amazing, merely a few blocks from the harbor and major attractions in San Diego, only minutes from the airport, easy to find - right off the 5. The hotel is quiet, very clean, comfortable, and with enough basic amenities - like coffee and laundry - to make any traveler on a tight budget feel at home. The staff are the friendliest and so accommodating. 5 stars definitely for them, alone. As a single woman traveling, safety is always a priority. With attentive staff at the desk 24 hours a day and a calm, well-lit environment, it provides a comfortable and secure stay - something that can’t be overstated when you’re on the road alone.

Positive: We weren't murdered. Negative: It was a struggle to make the front door close all the way. No cold water. No soap, no shampoo, no air conditioning, no wash cloths. Strong smell of fresh paint. Filthy hallways. Damaged head board. Suffocatingly hot and humid room. Horrible.

Be ware of booking this hotel from Expedia – the photos vs. the reality are at odds friends! |We checked in around 1am on a Friday and checked out Sunday between 9-10AM. Between that time this was a fiasco.||The people working were nice enough but completely unable to resolve any of the myriad issues with the room and were either uninterested in or unable to make even the most basic attempts to resolve any of the maintenance issues – which were:||- The room upon entered was moist, the longer we were in the room the more damp things seemed to be. As mentioned above we checked in at 1AM tired from a delayed flight and immediately put our items away hanging up suit and dresses and climbed in the bed. THE BED WAS DAMP|- In the morning, the clothes we hung up – DAMP|- The shower, there was red

The rooms need makeover immediately. The service personnel were nice and friendly. Location is perfect. It’s downtown with free onsite parking. 🥳. If they renovate the rooms it could be breathtaking. Oh make sure you drink the coffee that “David” makes . It’s bold and tasty 🤗

I would like to highlight the customer service upon my arrival and inquiry about rates! Everybody was helpful and David at the front desk was really cool! It's not quite a modern hotel with all the bells and whistles that you see in a magazine but it's a place to stay with convenience to downtown, a not so far walk to a good taco stand and a very scenic view of the overpass to the freeway and parking lot! Every hotel stay as a traveler that I have experienced is going to be different but when you are on a budget sometimes what you can afford might be 2 or 3 nights at the Motel 6 versus one night only at another option. Note, sometimes might be busier than others affecting details in rooms not exactly overlooked but sometimes just minor touch ups left behind. Upon arrival, I felt one of
