Motel 6 Salt Lake City, UT - Downtown

I booked Motel 6 in Downtown Salt Lake City for my honeymoon, it only took 13 calls to the front desk for them to finally answer and book our room oasis, and my wife’s lucky number is 13 so we knew we were #blessed and the rooms were a sacred place to finally consummate our marriage, like Jesus always wanted for us! Let me tell you, this wasn’t a hotel stay, this was a Defcon level 3 experience. Within 12 minutes of checking in, I learned more about narcotics distribution networks than any Netflix documentary could ever prepare me for. My new spouse dropped their bonnet on the suspiciously sticky carpet, and as I bent down to pick it up, a mysterious fart echoed through the walls like nuclear drill sirens, followed by what I can only describe as emotional damage from my partner. Although they advertised "breakfast included", they only offer coffee, apples, and cookies. Price is great, but for a reason. Rooms were clean, no remote control for the TV, no hot water in the morning.

Stayed here on July 4th and it was an excellent choice. The room was updated and large, very clean and comfortable. The location on top of the hill was perfect for firework viewing. Good choice of restaurants and a fun town to walk around. Would definitely recommend if in the area.

TLDR: No longer a Motel 6 & also no longer a functional motel - probably a drug front. Wild experience trying to get a room here while the guy in the office tried to get me to leave even though there wasn’t anyone staying at the motel. I made a reservation over the phone same-day. When I got there, the place was deserted - no one around - except a guy in the office. The guy said no one had called and they didn’t have rooms available, that he would need to see a “booking code” (unheard of for a $100/night motel). I pressed him and he said it wasn’t a Motel 6 (it certainly used to be - there’s a giant 6 above the entrance). Well when it used to be motel 6 there was crowds and crowds of riffraff and scary individuals hanging out in the stairwells, in the parking lot. Going in and out of every room! Since Shaun has taken over as general manager, everything has cleaned up and is so much better, and safer, and actually an enjoyable place to rest your head for the evening. Thank you Shaun!
