Motel 6 Newport, OR

Kind of decent price (we had to pay a tax on top of the price of the room) for a basic room that was right next to the staff's cleaning closet - they were incredibly loud the two mornings we were there. There was a strong mildew smell coming from that hallway. There was also a strange smell in the room itself. Only tiny bars of soap were offered for hand washing and shower, no shampoo. Had to buy my own from Walmart. No "Do not Disturb" sign offered. Staff came into our room to "tidy up" while we were gone for the day, and when we came back there were leftovers left in the mini fridge. We definitely didn't bring back leftovers. Gross. Felt unsure about leaving our stuff in the hotel room after that. Bed was decently sized but uncomfortable. No AC in the room; it was hot enough in there

My husband and I made reservations for the 23-25 to have a getaway for my birthday. I messed up and didn’t put the right dates in. After speaking to someone who just does reservations I ended up having to call the Newport, Oregon location where we be staying. Upon arrival it was getting late, and the front desk receptionist was arguing with my husband saying that I never called and so forth. I looked through my calls and found their number. Once telling the receptionist the number she still stated that we didn’t call but said it was the right number. Since married for 28 years we have stayed at motel 6 from Oregon to Florida, and never had a bad experience until last night. We will NEVER SPEND another dime at a Motel 6.

Motel 6 in Newport left a hard to understand very rude voicemail after we checked out saying we left a mess that our dogs made. No mess was made or even left. I know there wasn't any messes because i checked the entire room to make sure i didn't leave anything. Also the front desk and all the hallways had a very very strong not good food smell. Even the next day it was very strong smelling.

This property sits right across the road from Rogue world headquarters, is within walking distance to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and a 5 minute drive from Newport's historic downtown, numerous dining and shopping venues and just a 7-10 minute drive from other area locations. For the price, you cannot beat the location! This is an older property, but is surprisingly spacious, quiet and clean. There is a balcony, so that offers plenty of fresh air, as there is only heat temp controls in the room. My room was a mini suite with a kitchenette: sink, microwave and mini refrigerator. The shower had good pressure and the water was hot. The bed was clean and comfortable. BUT, because there was no bedspring and the matress was just sitting on a metal IKEA frame, I woke up with the worst back pain!!!

Positive: Affordable Negative: The toilet seat needs replaced, paint is almost all gone on underneath side, there’s no tv station guide to know what channels are available.
