Motel 6 Indianapolis, IN - Carmel

For being a motel 6, I was pleasantly surprised with how nice of a stay it was. It looks like they are currently in the process of remodeling, but my room was nice and updated, it was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was friendly. The rooms are a bit on the small side, but it still worked for me and my large dog. I really feel that I got good value for my money.

Positive: It was convenient Negative: Management are awful, will not compensate for their awful treatment of visitors.

If I could give this zero stars I would. I booked this through Expedia because it had good recent reviews and the price was right. However, I should have known better not to stay at a Motel 6, ever, even one that had renovated rooms.||You walk in and there is no physical front desk person, just a virtual agent who talked to you through the internet, took your ID, and made your keys. Even though I arrived at 12:30am, the front door to the hotel was WIDE OPEN. Literally anyone could come in and no one could stop them because there was no physical person at the front desk.||I get a room on the first floor and notice that the door at the end of the hall was propped open by some of the patrons--also unsafe. Near a busy street doesn’t offer the peace deserved in the modern style room Motel 6 offers. Easy access to the public transit though. Not a fan of the large tablet to check in/out with. Wish had an extra soft chew chocolate chip cookie since they were small. But a nice touch for a lone heart on Valentine’s Day.

It's a Motel 6. It has dingy hallways, a dirty microwave that doesn't quite fit in the space, and the faint smell of something unpleasant that I can't quite put my finger on, but it's cheap. If you don't have super high expectations it's really not bad. The renovations appear to be mostly lipstick on a pig, but the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom has nice new fixtures which is more than I can say for the Comfort inn I stayed in the night before. Plus they let me bring my dog.
