Monterey Fairgrounds Inn

Location is great for Del Monte Golf Course, 3min drive. Front desk was friendly. That's where the compliments end. Don't believe the pics of rooms, either old or fixed up to post online. No chair, just 2 cheap, squeeky matresses. Very old and beat up dresser. Table in room but no chair. Cheapest pillows and blankets you can get. TV remote wad DISGUSTING. TV is tiny and kept cutting out. Bathroom was filthy and soap bar was wax, probably very old. Windows super thin, will hear everything. Treat this place like camping and bring EVERYTHING, including cleaning supplies and sanitizers. No pics because i didn't plan on reviewing or posting, let alone want to remember the look. For $135 a night i would rather go to Motel 6. At least they have company standards.

Don't pay attention to the negative crap . I've been at several of the independent motels in Monterey and this one is as good as any of the others . It is an older establishment but it's clean , they are very nice at the desk and if there is an issue ( things wear out at some point ) they are happy to address and fix it . Best part is they don't double or triple their prices because its the weekend or holiday .

i stayed with a (male) friend for the jazz festival. the location was amazing, but that's the best part. I think there are some health violations happening, but we only slept here 2 nights so put up with them. we had a slug (yes, slug) in our sink, trash in the room from the prior guest, and the beds weren't very comfortable (but they were clean, thankfully). our cards kept getting de-magnetized, which was very annoying. you can't keep it near your wallet OR cell phone. i think they need better key cards. the shower had no pressure. the fixtures were from 1980. the bath was rusty and had missing parts. some socket covers were broken. the wifi kept disconnecting. i would not return. the front-desk staff was nice enough (even though they made me feel like their cheap key cards not working wa

Service was good and location is good. The room was very dirty. The floors in the room and the bathroom had very obviously not been cleaned, there was old coffee grounds in the coffee maker, cooking grease and dirt all around the stove, the toilet seat had droplets on it…. the list goes on. Keep your shoes or socks on here. The bottom of our socks turned black. The beds are uncomfortable and the pillows were super flat and thin. The hotel looks to be falling apart. At the price point I would expect a lot higher quality.
