Monterey Bay Lodge

I enjoyed my stay here. Friendly staff and the rooms were clean. We walked around the area and had a nice time in the area. ~5 minute walk to the nearest beach which we caught the sunrise at.

Booked a “queen” room and it had a full bed. Asked the front desk about that and was told, “it’s a California Queen”. However, there is no such thing as a “California Queen”! There was plenty of side to side room for a queen bed in the otherwise tiny room. There was no room for any other chairs or comfortable seating besides the rolling office desk chair so we brought the patio chairs inside as we had the fireplace room. It’s hard to enjoy the fireplace without a proper place to sit. There was a note in the bathroom about calling the front desk for any “common toiletries” you may need, so I called about a disposable shower cap and of course they didn’t have that. The saving grace about the motel is its location.

Positive: The location of this hotel was the best. Walking distance to the main strip for banking, shopping and restaurants. Negative: Mediocre ventilation, stuffy due to the unseasonal warmer weather. The temperature was in the mid 70's. The hotel did provide a medium size manual fan.

Our favorite place to stay in Monterey. Very affordable rooms are always clean. You are 100 steps from the beach. Across the street from Dennis the Menace Park. The heated pool for and Jacuzzi is our favorite part.

Monterey Bay Lodge||What an absolute nightmare! This stay was doomed from the word go. ||We arrive, late in the evening by after a long drive. We’re anticipating our 1bd suite with room to stretch out and a patio. We are traveling with a pet, but since the hotel boasts being pet friendly, and I specifically mentioned my dog on the reservation, I figured I would get a call if there was an issue. No call = no issue, right?! WRONG!!!||When we arrive I am met with someone at the front desk who simply did not care. She finally made an attempt at resolution because I never stopped bothering her. ||Apparently the room is not pet friendly. This is disclosed NO WHERE!
