Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza

We had a wonderful stay at the Millennium Hilton New York One UN Plaza. The location was fantastic – all the main spots we wanted to visit were easily accessible, which made getting around the city really simple. Only a 10 minute walk to Grand Central!||The hotel itself was very clean and well maintained, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. |A special mention has to go to Derek on reception, who truly went above and beyond and made our stay even better. Our first room was unfortunately right beside the elevators, which wasn’t ideal as I’m a light sleeper. Derek was incredibly understanding and quickly arranged a room change for us. The hotel was good and service at UN Cafe was exceptional. Sonel, who is from Türkiye, greeted us warmly every morning and made us feel genuinely welcome. Thanks to her kindness and positive energy, we were able to start each day of our trip in a great mood. She was truly the best staff member at the hotel. However, my experience with one of the housekeeping staff was very disappointing. Even though I clearly stated that I did not need housekeeping service, the housekeeper still entered the room to check. While I was resting, she repeatedly knocked loudly on the door, even when the “Do Not Disturb” sign was placed outside, which woke me up. Although we were promised an upgrade and didn't get one, we ended up in a Queen room which had a lovely city view. The rooms were spacious and the beds were so comfy. It was around a 20 minute walk to Times Square and around a 10 minute walk to Grand Central Station. Ideal for getting around. The staff were lovely.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable four day stay. The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and well appointed. The staff we interacted with were all helpful and friendly. It is a New York trait to be perfunctory don't interpret this as rudeness. The hotel location is great but the WiFi was a little sketchy and prone to dropping out. We didn't dine in or use the bar. Now the $35 destination charge, it's there in black and white when you book. When we checked in, it was clearly explained. You pay $35 per room per day. It doesn't roll over and is charged including the day of arrival or departure. If you are checking out early then you need to spend on the day of arrival! It can be used in the hotel restaurants, bars and the grab and go shop in the lobby. We bought pastries, soft drinks and granola

Positive: Large rooms with comfortable beds Negative: $35 daily fee that was given back to you in a credit to spend at the hotel. Don't make people spend even more money at your hotel in the form of credit.
