Merritt House Hotel

ur stay at The Merritt Hotel in Monterey was extremely disappointing. The bed had an old spring mattress so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep at all. The room was dark, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the shower pressure was barely a trickle. While the room was clean, it was absolutely not worth the price. The hotel uses the excuse of being a “historic property,” but it feels outdated and buried behind a seven-story Marriott building. The only positive was the location near the Wharf, though it was noisy with planes and cars. Hotels.com should not allow misleading photos and descriptions — this property does not meet quality standards. We are requesting a reimbursement for this unacceptable experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by how well cared for this property was. The rooms were cute and clean. The courtyard in the middle was a lovely place to have coffee in the morning. We were in a downstairs room so there were French doors to the courtyard from our room. The continental breakfast has pastries, bagels, apples, oranges and little yogurts. Everyone who worked there was pleasant. It’s conveniently located. The parking was a little difficult because they have tried to create extra spaces in addition to the covered spots. The only downside was that none of us found the mattresses comfortable. My son described as hard but springy.

This was a little jewel. Prices were higher then expected $333 per night but the conference hotels across the way, were $600 plus per night. Court yard rooms were very relaxing to sit at while working online for business or pleasure. Breakfast is minimal. Protein was a hard-boiled egg. Parking was $20 per night. If in the area for business a car is not needed. Excellent walk location, if you can Uber/taxi in from an airport 🛫

This was the cutest place we have stayed at in a while. The rooms were decorated so nice and The atmosphere was amazing. I just you hope you get the opportunity to enjoy for yourself. The roo.s were comfortable and thw continental breakfast room was enjoyable. Get there early as parking is limited.
