Mary's Guesthouse

I will start by saying that we were a group of 5... a teen, and two other kids 10 and 13 and my boyfriend and myself. The house is old and has a "step into the past" feel and smell... not a bad smell... just the old lady next door smell. We used the kitchen area lightly and we did use the living areas as well. The kids had to get creative and read, colour and draw... which they did without too much fuss. There is no tv which I did not miss but there is also no internet... I did miss that. We stayed in Jim Thorpe for 2 nights at the Guesthouse and Tom was a very informative and helpful host. Our room was the group room on the second floor with our own bathroom... but our teen had her own little room beside ours. This is an Annex to the Inn at Jim Thorpe. They own this building as well as 55 Broadway. Like the Inn, very clean and spacious rooms. This facility has garage parking but no restaurant or bar like the Inn has

Our family stayed here for two nights while exploring the area (using JTX Experience as our guide). Our room had a queen bed & a bunk bed. Our room had a private bathroom, although other rooms in the house share a bathroom. The guest house allows all lodgers to share a common area that includes a living room, dining room, and kitchen. As our room was pretty spacious (it included a couch & chair) we did not use the common area much.||We were pleased with the hospitality extended to us by our host, Tom, and were quite comfortable with our accommodations. It provided a homey feeling, and was great to base our activities out of. Location is excellent - just up the street from the 'main-drag' gives you proximity without noise (if Jim Thorpe can get noisy). Your hosts are very friendly, enjoyable to talk with - if you want. As their web site says, you have to bring your own towels - this helps them keep their costs down. Bring your toiletries too. But his is a small price to pay to save ~>$50 compared to the hotels. No TV but lots of books and games provided. But to some, this is a place to stay if you plan to be out-and-about, not sitting in your room. To others, they will take advantage of the kitchen facilities - we did not. We had the private bath room, but next time may save even more and take the shared bath room (bath is downstairs for those rooms). Only one negative - the radiator heat (works great)

I highly recommend Mary's Guesthouse. It is meticulously clean and well organized. I enjoy the accommodation because the guesthouse is located on the main street so it is extremely convenient to walk everywhere. I also enjoy the accommodation because it is very affordable, simple and cozy. I have stayed there twice and the place is still kept top notch.||||There isn't a TV (which I like) so we had good ol' fun playing the piano, singing and making up games to entertain ourselves. Mind you we're all grown adults and it was still a blast.
