Hickory Run State Park Camping Area

Very nice older campground. Bathrooms were clean. Electric hookups had good power and in a good location. No extensions needed. Roads are very narrow in the 259 section. When filling up with water you will block all traffic. Loved watching the deer right from our site. Make sure to stop by the visitor center and check it out. Very well done and informative.

Nice park lots of things to do. Sadly, lots of mosquitoes with too much standing water and bugs not only mosquitoes but Nats and biting flies! we were so miserable. The rain was bad enough with the mud, but the Nat and mosquitoes were horrific, relentless. I will say, if you book it based on the weather if there’s not a lot of rain in the past or in the future, it would be a super nice experience. Shades of death trail was challenging not good for me. A 60-year-old woman, But very beautiful. I feel the sites are very nice large lots of trees some privacy. We were originally placed beside the bath house on the Pet loop but way too busy. We moved to site 175. 197 was very nice, but it was booked. You can hear the stream from your campsite. So it’s 182 184 186 187 looks very nice as well. I

Camp sites are nice but very crowded together. Trails are really cool and there is plenty of them. Boulder field is really cool. Worth checking out. Main office has a cool educational exhibit. Bathrooms and showers are decent. Except the bathroom by sites 71, 72. They do clean bathroom /showers daily but not very well. Camp store is ok at best. We did see a couple bears walk through our site which we were hoping to see. They just checked stuff out then left. Didn't bother any one.

Amazing place!! We just loved it. It has many trails, waterfalls and many more places to visit. Honestly, didn’t like the bathroom in camp site and we ended up using the Hickory State park office. Over all we had a fabulous time and look forward to bringing more family and friends next time we visit.
