Mad River Lodge

This is a perfect home base for seeing Fall colors. We were in Waitsfield for a wedding at Mad River Barn - the Lodge is right down the road, very convenient. A shuttle was arranged so we had no need for a DD. We also did a lot of sightseeing and the area is stunning. We were here during the leaf change so the ski lift a few miles up the mountain was running - very cool. Our suite always had parking right in front; it was clean, with top quality towels, bedding and mattress. The owners were on hand and immediately responded to texts. Complementary coffee in the lobby with plenty of cream was excellent. And we appreciated having a door code instead of a key card when we were in our fancy dresses. 😉

My family and I r booked five rooms at this hotel for a special gathering in April 2025. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected family emergency, one of the rooms went unoccupied. We reached out to the hotel to explain the situation, hoping for some flexibility or understanding given the circumstances.||Not only did the staff refuse to make any accommodations for the emergency, but their attitude was also completely lacking in empathy or basic human decency. For a hotel that prides itself on hospitality, the customer service we experienced was cold, dismissive, and unhelpful.||Despite the fact that we had four rooms still in use (and were paying for all five), the hotel showed zero willingness to work with us—not even a credit, refund, or gesture of goodwill. Loved this place. Room was perfect for our one night stay….really big! Loved the decor/rustic barn feel. Love the proximity to Sugarbush- so close! Will be back!

I had a great stay at Mad River Lodge for my ski trip. Ended up arriving in the middle of a snowstorm and had a little bit of trouble with the driveway. The innkeeper was super responsive and went above and beyond to help me to get my car unstuck/sent an extra snowplow up and down the drive. Room was clean and really nice. I can’t say enough good things about my visit. I look forward to coming back!

We stayed for a ski trip to Mad River Glen. Location is perfect between the mountain and the town of waitsfield. Room was great - clean, modern, spacious - and the overall building is really cool. Would definitely stay here again.
