Love Hotels at Badlands National Park at Kadoka SD

Prepaid for a discounted reservation at the Love Hotels at Badlands National Park at Kadoka SD. When I arrived, I was charged an extra $7, the discounted amount that was not waived for prepay. I then checked into my room only to find hair covering the bottom of the pillow cases. I asked for new bedding which they said they had none available, so I was offered another room. The second room was infested with flies, as in I had half a dozen flies crawling on my body within a few minutes of sitting down and turning on the tv. The front desk clerk said that was probably the case with all the rooms, so I checked out. The clerk gave me the number to call to request a refund.|I called that number 5 different times. Booked a stay here on 11/30/25 but on arrival the front desk told us there’s currently no hot water in the rooms, so they’ll refund us for the stay and we can try getting a room at the hotel across the street instead. No refund ever came through, they denied my claim via the credit card provider claiming I was a “no show” (which isn’t true since I showed up and got turned away by the hotel staff), and there’s no way to contact the actual front desk here to speak with them because you get routed in circles through the OYO phone tree. Shady business practice to tell your customers to go elsewhere and promising them a fake refund. Don’t stay here.

Positive: Nothing. It is in the midst of a refresh however it’s starting from rotten so there’s a long ways to go. Negative: Everything. “Plastic grass carpet”, no baseboards, at least a dozen flies, intense sewer odor, gravel parking lot….the list goes on and on. We left after about an hour. It was beyond awful.

Me and my family of four stayed there for a couple months. We had a horrible experience I hope no one stays there or if you do. Do not try to help the manager and her dad out. We made the mistake helping them giving them rides and food. The manager tried to hang herself. Left for a couple days then came back. The workers are not professional. Cops came banging on our door at 1:00 am while we was sleep. She claimed we was fighting when the cops asked our neighbors it was actually the manager and her dad fighting. Room 117 that we stayed in the door did not lock, there was duck tape on the beds keeping them together. In room 112 the sink was clogged we got switched to that room. We came over for a night on our roadtrip. At the counter we had to call someone to show up but didn’t had to wait long. The house is a little bit older but they had some things done I guess because everything is clean and the rooms look good. The beds are also not new and one had a metal piece at the bottom hanging out, which’s seems a little dangerous for the feet to me. And the blankets are thin. Overall it is a totally fair stay if you consider that price.
