Customer Reviews
Would have liked to check out the campground. Unfortunately they only have a Facebook page that needs a facebook account to see. Skipped and found another campground with a real, publicly accessible website.
We stayed in the largest cabin for the week. It was badly in need of repairs, from the window screens to the floors , it was the same with the 2 smaller cabins as well||Our cabin was filthy! Dishes and cutlery, pots and pans totally unfit for use. We couldnt take our shoes off in the cabin because the floor was so old and dirty. No couch, only hard kitchen chairs to sit on.||Owner is very nice and friendly. But doesnt seem to care who he rents too, as our neighbors in the next cabin had a bonfire when a serious total fire ban was in effect with tons of signs everywhere! Drinking and singing with beer cans all over the deck and lawn until 3am. No owner around. The owner did not even ask us for our address or phone number. Just the money||The shower house with toilets was also filth
Host was a kind and accommodating gentleman. Only a few spots available for short term camping that were a few feet from each other. The “permanent” residents (visit mostly on the weekends) were kind and welcoming. We were there during the week so there was hardly anyone there and the Wifi was amazing. Bathrooms had showers and there was even a little store to buy a few items. Lake was pretty and there was a dock to launch your kayak. Only wish dogs could join in the fun!
We felt the best part was the beach. Sandy and not weedy in the swim area. The playground park was okay but we wished it had more things for the kids. The camping spots are close together and narrow but very long making parking easy. The public showers/bathrooms weren’t clean and the lady at the desk wasn’t pleasant at check in. The campground is in a great location and easy to access from highway 10. Overall we had a good time and spent a lot of our time at the beach.
Great location, lovely beach. A wonderful option if you want to be in Detroit Lakes with easy access to the fun things to do in town, without being in the heart of loud, crazy tourist central. This place is 45 some years old and it shows. It's well loved, the seasonal site owners passionately love this place and are all like a giant family. It could use some updates, especially the bathrooms. The streets are pretty narrow and should be made one-ways. The lady who owns the place comes across as pretty grumpy and rude, but she's just old. The son who helps out is very helpful. They're obviously doing fine as they're booked nearly every weekend, but I'd happily pay a bit more for cleaner showers.
