Lake Shasta Lodge

I'm very appreciative of the TLC from this family-run hotel. I had an unexpected stay due to a car issue, & the hotel was kind enough to accommodate me at the last minute. They even allowed me to extend my stay for free beyond late checkout. Thank you for your help & kindness during a challenging time!

The bushes outside our room smell of dog pee. The room feels claustrophobic as one window is too filthy to see out of, and the other window allows anyone in the other part of motel to see inside our room. The motel is very old and the room smells musty. It is painted with a green accent wall which makes everything look a light sickly green. An old motel can be charming, this one is not. It is animal friendly so it makes sense that the room itself smells like animals and must. No privacy, I can hear the guy across the way speaking on his phone. Leaky tap in the bathroom. Continuous groaning sound from the fridge. We can hear the cars on the I5. There is a dog barking very nearby and the sound of maybe a chain saw? I made a mistake selecting this place but the bed seems comfortable enough.

The hotel does deceptive advertising and probably also gets someone to write positive reviews for it. The pictures display in the ad shows a nice room that feels like 3-star but when you go there you will see that the place is barely even 1 star. The decor is old and dingy and furniture is scratched like bought from a flea market. I booked a 2 day stay but left on the night I checked in itself. When I complained to the manager they told me that room #2 is old and dinghy but the pictures are from room#1 but if you look at several of the reviews even that one is bad. Ensure that you look at all the negative review and all will confirm my experience

It was good enough until we found one of the beds had been slept in. Clean the sheets people. Room 8. The tv didn’t work and the door bolt didn’t latch. Maintenance please. Nobody in the office at 10am.

I'm not sure how they got a 4.2 rating. The sheets and towels were clean. That's the extent of the the upside. The toilet in our room wobbled from side to side. The baseboards were rotted. There are no amenities. It looks like they are trying to make it a destination but have a long way to go. If a nice room at a resonable cost is what your looking for, stay in Redding or Obrien.
