3 miles of driving in deep sand so deep it lifted up the floor boards and drivers seat just to get to the campground road that has huge deep holes of water.. like 20 feet long by the width of the road honestly at least a foot and a half deep. 3 of them! No drinkable water, no power, garbage scattered everywhere. All the camp site utilities are rotton and rusted with holes. Crazy guy looks like he was living there taking up 3 sites. No TP in the nasty outhouse and all garbage cans overfilled. Spent one night and woke up to huge birds in the trees crapped all over my tent and everything. What a mess. This campground is NOT on the water. You have to walk down the road to the green sludge pond to get there
Enjoyable camping experience. The spots are pretty large and ours had two picnic tables as well as a fire pit. There is a drop toilet in the middle of the campground and only a handful of spots so you don’t have a large group of people out there. No hook ups but bear proof trash/recycle bins. We did have an issue with ticks this time of year otherwise it was truly pleasant. Our neighboring campers were extremely loud all through out the night but that’s not necessarily the campgrounds problem. We did have a little bit of a struggle figuring out how to get back to the campground/site. There were several hiking options close by which we enjoyed (trails not well maintained). Seems most people were out there to fish or take dirt bikes/four wheelers out.
Pathetically maintained even though theres a full time “camp host”. 4 Us forest forest service guys fishing off the pier on work hours with work vehicle…but no one willing to pick up the trash…typical florida
Cost is $10 and is done by honor system at entrance. Gates weren't closed at night. Volunteer ranger was not there every night. Had place to myself 1 night. Pit toilets, boat launch, easy to drive to in a truck, even without 4 wheel drive.
Awesome for camping, no hookups but had a composting toilet. Sure sites are private and only 13 of them. The only difficulty is finding signs out on the road to lead you to the camp but my GPS put me right at their gate.
