La Quinta Inn & Suites Summersville/New River National Park

We stayed while passing through on our travels on 19. I received a great price online, but was unsure of the quality since I never stayed before. It provides easy access with restaurants, stores, coffee and gas close by. I was skeptical staying here as I am a Hilton member and usually always look for that brand of hotels. This hotel compared very well with a Hampton Inn. It was clean and modern. The bed was comfy. Check in and out was easy with friendly staff. There were small things like a doorknob could be replaced or a lampshade could be refreshed or an area needing a refresh of paint if I wanted to nit nitpick, but overall a very nice hotel. Breakfast was great too. I recommend this hotel and would stay again in the future!

Positive: The room was very vice and the beds were VERY comfortable. Negative: We were in an 01 room so we had the road noise and what I believe was the heat pump.

This was an okay stay overall. The hotel itself looks nice from the outside, and the parking was easy. Our room was decent size-wise, but it felt a little worn and could’ve used some updating. It was clean for the most part, though we noticed a few small things that housekeeping probably overlooked. It wasn’t a bad experience, just not as polished as we expected. The front desk lady Kacie was very welcoming and friendly, and kept my kids entertained while we had trouble with our car which was very appreciated. She’s definitely the reason this review isn’t lower.

We love La Quinta! However... This specific location.. Was very disappointing. La Quinta is a little more expensive than most. But, you get a great room and service that goes with it. This location either needs to lower prices or work on their rooms as well as staff. You either froze in this room or woke up covered in sweat. There was no happy medium coming out of those vents. The sheets on our bed looked as if they were never changed from the last guests. Unless housekeeping allows old worn out sheets be placed on beds. The housekeepers were rude and the "head" of housekeeping was downright miserable. These ladies would actually slam the room doors when they were finished with each room. The hotel itself was fine overall. The room was clean and fairly comfortable, and the location is convenient if you’re just passing through or staying a night or two. Nothing was terrible, but nothing really stood out as exceptional either. What really affected the experience was the staff. Most of the employees we interacted with came off as pretty rude and unwelcoming, which definitely put a damper on the stay. That said, the front desk attendant Kacie was the clear exception. She was very friendly and genuinely helpful. She went above and beyond, answered all our questions, and made sure we had everything we needed. Amenities were okay for the price, and the hotel met basic expectations, but customer service consistency could really use improvement.
