La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham New York City Central Park

This hotel exceeded my expectations despite the recent negative reviews. I stayed four days and would definitely stay here again if I return to New York. The location is great — quiet and nice area. The hotel is simple, you get what you pay for, but the staff was extremely kind and helpful (most of them speak Spanish). One employee even gave us chocolates and a drink. Breakfast is basic American style but good. The room for three people was small but functional, with hot water, towels, and heating working perfectly. No housekeeping during our stay, which was fine for me. We were able to leave our luggage before check-in and after check-out with no issues. Positive: The staff was nice and friendly. Negative: Worst hotel I have ever been too. I chose it because of the Wyndham La Quinta name. It didn't deserve one star. Hotel room divided into two closet size spaces, closet with steam pipes with insulation peeling off a postage stamp bathroom . Disappointed.

This place could use a good cleaning. The carpet was stained including a large stain that looked like blood. The furniture was also dirty. The windows had blue tape around them, perhaps to keep the room warm. The heat went out one of the 2 nights we were there. The front desk ladies were very nice and the location was perfect.

First of all, the building in the picture is NOT the hotel. There are not enough negative adjectives to describe this property. Wyndham and LaQuinta should be embarrassed. They have completely wasted a prime location. Prisons provide better accommodations. We were not expecting luxury, but we were expecting cleanliness and functionality. The single elevator was not in service so we had to carry luggage six flights of stairs. Wifi was not working. Carpeting in hallways is covered in bleach stains and others that were unidentifiable. Paint is peeled, chipped and fading everywhere. There were holes in the walls. The shower had strange stains and dripped constantly. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by Mike who got us all set up flawlessly. Mike truly made us feel like family. We got engaged on the first night and when Mike found out he was almost happier than we were lol. Everyone on staff in this hotel were super friendly. The free breakfast is awesome. Drinks and snacks were fairly priced. Definitely recommend staying here
