La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Irvine Spectrum

I've stayed at other La Quinta's twice before. I like La Quinta because they always have professional & very friendly customer service. There's railroad tracks next to this hotel. So the Mertolink will probably wake you up as it sounds like an airplane is departing. This La Quinta in Irvine California has two buildings a newer building and a very historical building. We were checked in at the historical building, the walls are made of cement and have a very strong smell of clay or something similar. It doesn't look like any hotel room I have EVER stayed at. We did not like this hotel room. It was almost scary to us, lol. So we asked to be changed to the newer building and the receptionist had no problem accommodating us. The location was ideal for us. 10 minutes from family. I have to admit, the look of the hotel was a bit intimidating. We stayed in the silo area. Train tracks right outside our window. We loved the train noise, but not everyone will appreciate it. The room had everything we needed & was very clean & comfortable. For the obvious age of the hotel, it was amazing how clean & well kept everything was. Breakfast was very good as well. Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for a week. We had taken 3rooms for a week.||The in-room services were basic and one of the rooms smelled of smoke cigarettes or something (mostly from its air conditioner), we complained about it for the first 3days but we were informed that the hotel was at full capacity (which I doubt). I was offered a smaller room on the 5th day but as we had luggage and space.||||The stay except the smell was extremely comfortable. The beds were large and the amenities were basic.||||The location of this hotel is exceptional. The connectivity to highways and internal roads were very good. There is a convenient store and gas station right opposite the hotel. There are some excellent food joints around the hotel.||||Everyday we looked forward to the daily breakfast spread.. i

Breakfast was a great touch and waffles were good. That’s the only good thing. Being by the train is loud but totally fine and a little fun however the property is filthy. To save $$ they don’t have enough housekeepers to clean your room daily or to clean the property. In the hall the same clumps of hair were there the entire stay because the halls are never vacuumed. Inside the room the carpets are nasty, stained,has wads of gum smashed into them and frayed. The water in the shower has a dirt type smell. This is a Wyndham property so the owner is extremely wealthy…look them up but can’t spare any  money to pay enough staff to keep the property at a minimum presentable.

Room in poor condition and stains everywhere. Needs an update desperately. Didn’t stay in the “main building” it was a hideous grey concrete building. The windows looked old and disgusting. There was a train going by more than every hour that was so loud it sounded like we were outside next to it. The breakfast was just stuff they threw out on the counters. No scrambled eggs or breakfast meat. Just bread, cereal, and a waffle maker, with some fruit that didn’t look great. Wouldn’t stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it. Not even good for a cheap stay. The staff made check in quick and was helpful which is all I have to say that isn’t negative.
