JGSTAY - Times Square

Clean rooms and staff was nice. The rooms are extremely small but to be fair its New York. Despite the small rooms it is comfortable enough for a nights stay as majority of time was spent out in the city. We did not have room service but that can be a good thing as in the mornings, there was no knocking on the door waking me up. Id stay here again.

This is an excellent value hotel. The location is of course perfect, if you want to be near Times Square--I was taking a bus out the next morning and wanted to be near the bus terminal, and this was the cheapest reasonable hotel. Although the hotel does not have an elevator (thus lots of stair walking), I really liked the hotel. The folks at the front desks were nice, and the room was very clean. It was barebones, but everything about the room was fine--all very clean. I did find it super hot (for some reason when I came in) but I opened the window and turned on the mini split. Bathroom was great, and comparably good to *good* hotels in Times Square. Bed was comfortable, TV worked and was a fine size (although I didn't use it). No window in room!! This is illegal in New York--all hotel bedrooms must have a window providing natural light and a way outside in case of fire. When I requested a room with a window they said none were available. I tried to get a refund so I could go somewhere else--desk guy said windows weren't required, which is a flat-out lie. I called Expedia, since I made the booking through them, and they were useless--said refunds were up to the hotel, even though I paid Expedia. It is a Fire Trap! In smaller issues, there was no tv service in the whole hotel, signs up everywhere saying it would be fixed ASAP--for the 3 days I was there. No water glass in the room or bathroom, not even a paper cup. No hot water at the sink, only the shower. All in all, a park bench would be safer and have a better

Positive: The location is near the theatre district and times square. Negative: The hotel had no hot water, and no elevator. The hotel has been without hot water for weeks now. They promised a refund of 30% for the inconvenience, I'm not expecting I'll actually see it. Luckily it was only a one night stay. I'd not go back.

If you are looking at this place, you are probably looking for something affordable near Time Square and Broadway. This place checks those boxes. The rooms are clean, but small, think college dormitory sized. The staff is great, absolutely no complaints. The location can't be beat. One to two blocks from all the blockbuster plays, breakfast places right outside your door, an easy walk to Time Square. I wouldn't want to hang out it the room, too small, but as a launching point into NYC, it's great and affordable.
