James Hotel

Quirky, rooms are clean, ask for the remote at the desk, ours wasn't programmed googled it and it was an easy fix, very close to beach and shopping, staff friendly, do not get rooms by elevator a little noisy elevator is older type, also weird vent in our room directly to hall so...no "horseplay" unless you want the whole hall to hear and let light in all night (see pic)

The location of this hotel is great a lot of shops, stores, places to eat within walking distance and the beach is just a short drive. The hotel offers parking, however, it’s coned off and you are responsible for moving the cones to get in and out of the parking lot. In addition, they demand that you to give them your car keys while you are at the hotel. They didn’t ask politely or even explain why they literally demand you hand over your car keys if you are present at the hotel. They have a man during the day that looks homeless who literally will chase you if you don’t turn in the car keys. This was very odd to me. On our 3rd night we needed more toilet paper. Upon asking the front desk for more comments we’re made that the people who give out the tissue leave at 4 and if you need toile

Great location - a bit of a tired hotel, however great service compensated for any negative aspects. Close to the beach, mall and Ocean Drive - perfect spot

One might expect to have a peaceful and relaxing stay in a hotel, particularly in South Beach; however, my experience at the James Hotel in Miami, FL, was quite the opposite. I arrived at approximately 3:30 PM on December 13, 2025, hoping to receive my room thirty minutes prior to the 4:00 PM check-in time (Confirmation # 9078866105381, initials J.A.). The receptionist, who introduced herself as the "daughter of the hotel's owner," informed me she would impose a $10 fee for storing my bag, even for a few minutes, a $10 fee for "early" parking, and a $50 fee for early check-in. Interestingly, the lobby was empty, there was only one car in the parking lot, and it was only a few minutes before the check-in time of 4:00 PM. Furthermore, she mentioned a $50 per hour charge for late check-out.

Do not stay here!!!!! I checked into this hotel for the boat show. The hotel clerk wanted the keys to my truck, and tried to give me someone else's keys to move there car because the clerk didn't have a license to drive anymore! Our room had dead roaches in the floor, the AC would not work. Then at checkout this old dark haired lady is going off on me because I wouldn't leave my keys with them, and told me to never come back to there motel! I told her I asked for a refund at check in but they wouldn't refund my card or i would have gladly left. This is below a section 8 motel in my opinion. There was people fighting all night in the room above me. Dont waste your money with these people!
