International Students Residence

Stayed here four night. Restrooms were relatively clean 4/5. On the last night noticed smears on vanity mirror in restroom. Should be clean more frequently. Most people will not mind nearby train noises, I didn't. The neighbor noises are more annoying but usually they quiet down after a while. The walls don't reach the ceiling so noises can be heard between rooms. I was in a two-bedroom room. Just enough extra space for luggage. You won't want to stay inside, if not to chill or sleep. This hostel didn't have organized events or tours like others do.

I want to start with the good, so the common area was really cool, the have a pool table, two TVs a good kitchen and so on. Really nice place to be, but you have to go outside to go to that area, it’s right next door, but when I booked the hostel I didn’t know about that. I don’t mind that point, but there are also a few things I also want to mention. When we arrived, we check in and walked in to our room, which is pretty small (4 bedroom) and a guy was already in there, even though we booked a female dorm. We spoke to the staff and he had to change the room, because someone gave him the wrong dorm card to a female dorm. We felt really bad because he was already sleeping and the staff woke him up and changed his room. It was of course not his fault, but also not our fault. It’s also import

Rooms were just chipboard that did not extend to the ceiling. This allowed every bit of conversation and noise to be heard from all rooms on the floor. People did not have to be loud for their conversations to be heard, the sound just travelled. This would be fine if specified in the description of the place but it is left out. If looking for a place to sleep for one night it is fine but for the price I would look elsewhere. Facilities are clean, however, just too noisy to get a good sleep because of this design.

Good value ! What's really cool there is that it's just next to the underground station (Marcy Av), but it's also the only downside about this place : It's literally under the subway line. However, inside the building, it is perfectly isolated from the outside noise. The bathroom was very clean, and the rooms are actually well designed. You can leave your stuff in the room since there are only 2 beds in the rooms AND there's a key to enter. Overall great bang for the buck, I would recommend it hands down.

This hostel is very clean, but the layout is cramped and chaotic. On the first floor is check-in and a small waiting area. Floors two and three are rooms, but the walls do not go all the way to the ceiling (like a bathroom stall), so you can hear the neighbors snoring, getting freaky, and their light shines into your room. The rooms are the size of a bunk bed plus maybe two feet on one side. The open kitchen and common area is next door through an outside entrance, and is very nice. The location is very close to the subway, which is convenient but also somewhat loud. Overall a decent place in Brooklyn.
