Beautiful and safe location, 5 minute walk from central park. hostel was super clean and filled with kind people eager to meet new people and go out! great for solo travelers! only personal issue was that me and my friend were told 11am was checkout time but it was actually 10am and not even 15 minutes past 10am, one of the ladies working receptionist was rushing my friend and i out of the hostel. i understand checkout is at a certain time but to be rushing us out to leave and to wait and watch us pack to make us go faster was kinda rude, anxiety inducing and unprofessional. i understand cleaners were coming but again, this is literally fifteen minutes past checkout time. so i thought that was rude and i understand this kind of rush if it was way past 10am and close to the 3pm check in tim
Staying here was the best possible choice I could've made for my NYC trip. The location is ideal, it's across the street from Central Park and has easy subway access. The facilities were functional, clean, and well furnished. However, what really made this hostel special was the friendships I made during my trip. The other guests were very down to Earth, kind, and outgoing, and I quickly made friends from all around the globe. Since I was travelling solo, it was really nice to make some friends to explore and spend time with. I will definitely be coming back here for future visits!!
We came and got greeted by the front desk. She was very lovely. She gave us the full tour. The room was nice and had great air flow. We were a family of 7 and they were am to keep us in one room without burdening any solo travelers. I would definitely stay again.
The hostel is awesome and located nicely near a subway station. The Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade starts just a couple of blocks from there. The lounge area is big and very quiet. It’s like a european hostel. I stayed in 10 bed room. It was comfortable and 2 bathrooms were renovated.
I don’t know how this hostel has such a high rating—Maybe the people who stay here haven’t stayed at other hostels or have lower standards but this is by far one of the worst I’ve stayed at out of around 30. To start, the pictures make it look better & cuter than it is. In reality, it’s very very old which means everything feels dirty--the bathroom is rusty, the tiles are cracked, the floors are creaky (if you end up on the top one-good luck), the beds are deeply uncomfortable/shake when anyone moves, pillows hard as rocks, and most of the kids seemed overall cliquey or antisocial. Meeting people wasn’t my priority this time so that’s fine but it appears there’s no adult management—just a lot of twenty something’s running the place, most of who ignored my concerns and infantilized me (even
