Humphreys Half Moon Inn

As a young woman on a solo trip, I felt comfortable and would return. It’s right by the docks, so you can see the boats and the water. The middle (tropical) grounds are full of palm trees, the pool, and the koi pond with the resident macaws. The lobby has a small pantry area with food for purchase and plastic utensils available. If you have a rental car, the fee is $25/day and you must use your room card to enter/leave the gated parking. It’s within a half hour drive to get to locations such as La Jolla, Cabrillo National Monument, Coronado Island, downtown, and the airport. The Inn is pretty much a ring of rooms — a first level on the ground floor and a top level on the second floor. I really appreciated the front desk asking which level I preferred. I had a fantastic stay at the Humphreys Half Moon Inn in San Diego. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very affordable for such a beautiful waterfront location. The views around the property are spectacular and the whole place has a relaxed island vibe that makes it a great spot to unwind. One of my favorite parts of the stay was the cute little bar on the property. They had a live band playing and it made for a really fun evening without even having to leave the hotel. What really impressed me though was the service. After I got home, I realized I had left my iPad in the room. I called the hotel and eventually connected with Lani, who went completely above and beyond to help me. She located it and arranged to have it shipped back to me. Humphrey's far exceeded our expectations! The “Marina Room was incredible! Loved the view and ability to walk easily around the room. Front desk staff were awesome, most especially James was super cool and awesome.||We planned an important reunion/ anniversary here and the Event staff was very helpful & attentive, including fulfilling our grandson's request for a glass of milk! They were joyful, easy to work with and in constant communication of what was next. The food was amazing!!! We rec'd many compliments on how delicious the food was, especially the corn and the tender brisket. No shortage of anything and all our guests attended, having seconds with plenty left over. Positive: A lovely location and a cute, nostalgic tropic resort vibe. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and sufficiently updated considering the age of the resort. Negative: When you have a decades old building on the water, in a humid climate, there will be potential for mildew. There was a slight mildewed smell in the carpet, but it was not particularly offensive for an older building in the given enviroment.

I loved the Hawaiian vibe of the hotel. Pool was nice (wish it was a few degrees warmer). The hot tub was great. We had a Jr. Suite and it was nice for two young kids under 5. The only thing I would change is not having a bay view because of facing the parking lot and the sun made it hot in the morning.
