Howard Johnson by Wyndham Ocala FL I-75

Older hotel, but needs were comfortable, room was clean, shower was hot. Was pet friendly which was a plus for us. Check in was easy. Breakfast options were so so, menu said biscuits and gravy, but they didn’t have that, waffles, toast, juice, sausage and eggs were your choices ... so not horrible. We didn’t eat so not so sure of taste. All and All stay was fine and price was fair.

Despite some people disliking this place, I decided to try it. |I was going to book it on TripAdvisor, but I was on my bike, and didn’t want to stop, take my helmet off, etc. I was lucky I did not, since the motel had posted a lower price ( 54.99) than the reservation price out on their sign.|( I suspect that the price was only good for solo travelers, and was higher for couples and families)|The room was quite adequate, and pretty clean. The pool was nice looking, and well used, There were a few people smoking dope somewhere close, and a few drinking at the outdoor tables, but none were very loud. Positive: The breakfast area staff were very nice and friendly. Before they just pulled everything away they would ask everyone if they wanted anything else. That was super thoughtful! Negative: This is absolutely NOT a 3 star hotel, it’s a motel. Outdated & not clean: built up dust, hair in the shower drain, non-draining bathroom sink, dirt along the edges of the wall, etc. The rooms have no coffee maker, iron, or ironing board. Disappointed!

I checked into the Howard Johnson because it had great reviews, lots of amenities ( a gold course, a cafe, snacks, pool) and it seemed like a great deal. Check in was great, they were very nice and courteous. However, when I entered my room I couldn't barely breath. I thought it was due to the chemicals they used to clean the room being I could smell chemicals. I'm an asthmatic so this is something I deal with often. The next morning I woke up to a swollen face and rashes all over. I complained to the office and they offered me a couple other rooms. Turns out there is mold in each of the rooms. Not bad for $80ish. Bed was comfy and room smell nice. True as other comments, the cleaning of some of the room furniture can improve. Breakfast was warm and plenty of options. If you are a light sleeper this would be challenging for you since you could hear some of I-75 noises.
