Howard Johnson by Wyndham National City/San Diego South

My husband and I grew up all over San Diego. We came back home due to personal family issues. I booked at the. Howard Johnson not knowing that the neighborhood changed so much. The staff is very courteous and helpful. There is only one driveway into HoJo’s. For four nights and we felt completely safe. Even with a downstairs room! We slept like babies. 🥰 Very nice beds and very clean rooms. Thanks to the staff at National City, Ca Howard Johnson!

Honestly it was a great stay for 65 a night. (I used hotels.com app) The room was generally clean, but still bring slippers. Stayed in #140. It was quiet and there’s no one above this section of rooms which was nice. The front desk person was kind and helpful. No sign of bed pests or creepy crawlies. I have a bad back and the bed was good, the thick type but not crazy plush. USE A TOWEL on the tub floor. Our tub was so clean and smooth, I’m not one to slip but I almost died from slipping. Thankfully I fell in a good weird way with no injuries. Don’t use the aged rubber mat it slips, you have to use a towel, trust me don’t hurt yourself. Otherwise yea decent stay! We’ll be back thanks!

All is great besides the front desk staff is 50/50. Some are really great, but in the past I had non negotiable $150 deposit for ONE night on non refundable reservation. That’s absurd but this time I had great guy who had cooperated. What are the others doing with my deposit, play online casino or trade ?? The rooms are clean and comfortable.

I stay in hotel circle typically. This place was better than those hotels and very clean with daily room cleaning and linens. The staff was friendly and lots of food choices in the neighborhood. Parking is secure as it has the office by the entry. It is a little sketchy outside the property at night, but not really. Inside the property feels far safer than most of the lower rate choices in all of San Diego. Little Italy is less safe as well.
